ORIGINAL: CreativeDominant this one? Labor Day Hurricane (1935) - 185 mph Some meteorologists refer to this storm as the “Florida Keys Hurricane,” but it’s more widely known as the “Labor Day Hurricane” of 1935. Either way, it packed a big punch, with maximum sustained winds of 185 mph. The hurricane’s central pressure was so low when the storm struck Long Key, Florida, that the National Hurricane Center considers this “the most intense hurricane of record to hit the United States and the third most intense hurricane of record in the Atlantic basin.” Tied with Irma. https://www.wunderground.com/cat6/category-5-irma-hits-leeward-islands-peak-strength quote:
A hurricane with top winds of 185 mph has never been recorded in these islands, and Irma’s landfall intensity of 185 mph winds in the Leeward islands is tied with the 1935 Florida Keys Labor Day Hurricane as the highest landfall intensity on record for an Atlantic hurricane (third place globally.) The most recent close analog for Irma may be Hurricane Hugo (1989), which tore through the Leewards and struck Puerto Rico as a Category 4 storm, causing $3 billion in damage (1989 dollars) and 72 deaths. And so what? You have read stories that claim that such intense hurricanes have never formed before now? It is obvious that the problem here is you and your ignorance of what these stories are about-- probably because you're getting your information second-hand from RWNJ sites that will always mock and belittle anyone who tries to report the facts. Also, for future reference TWITTER IS NOT THE NEWS. For this 'story', Alex Jones has taken random people's twitter feeds and used them as 'proof' that 'the left' is insane... but half of these twitter quotes are just people wishing that the hurricanes would hit Trump, wondering what Trump will prioritize over Irma, etc. These aren't news reporters, they are nobodies-- they don't 'prove' anything and their comments definitely aren't something that 'the left' is rallying behind. Seriously, who are 'EverybodyhatesBdell', '234110' and 'Darrell Bernardo'? Not that Americans are the brightest people on Earth, so it is possible they believe what they're saying, but they could just as easily be fake accounts that Alex Jones relies on for stories like this. If you trust him to give you an accurate sense of what 'the left' is rallying behind, you are a fool. I'll tell you what, idiot...just because you say something, doesn't make it so. Find a post of mine where I've quoted Alex Jones, twitter followers, or any EXTREME right wing site. Good luck...
