ORIGINAL: tweakabelle I seem to remember the Malaysian PM recently trying to explain away the sudden appearance of something in the region of US$700,000,000 in his bank account as either a gift or a loan from that well known champion of democracy and human rights, the King of Saudi Arabia. Coincidentally (of course!) this figure represents a large chunk of the c$1 billion that disappeared from one of the Malaysian Govt's investment funds while the same PM was in office. Actually, that amount wasn't the large chunk missing from the Malaysian Government Investment. The Saudi Royalty have vouched that they donated that sum of money to the PM of Malaysia as a personal gift to him encouraging him to champion more Islamic causes. Oh puh-leeeaassee! Well of course the Saudis are not going to say that it was a bribe are they? And if people are going to get this kind of money for promoting Islam, where do I sign up? This excuse is so silly and unbelievable that it virtually confirms the charge that the money was a bribe. quote:
And Saudis are that rich. The only conflict of interest here is, we will never know what precisely were the Saudi Royalty bribing the PM of Malaysia for. And Malaysia is a country where bribes is openly acceptable in business dealings and in government and in all forms of authority, Indonesia too is like that. I was just over there this weekend, and I bribed an officer again. There's a bit of a difference between an ordinary citizen coughing up a few dollars to pay a cop off to avoid a speeding fine or other minor matter and a $700,000,000 bribe to the sitting PM of a country. If you aren't aware of the difference, there's little point in explaining it to you. quote:
But it doesn't matter how they are gonna cough up this 10 billion, except, they have agreed to. And better spend it on US right than anywhere else right? Trump is making sure he gets that money for the US. But it does matter. It matters a lot. It would matter an awful lot if we were to discover Trump was receiving a commission for his services wouldn't it? American have every right to know where the money goes and how much of it ends up in the US. Americans need to be certain that Trump is not using his office to enrich himself or his business cronies. Dubious business practices such as corruption and bribery might be "acceptable" in Malaysia but they are not acceptable in the West. They are illegal. Anyone soliciting, receiving, offering or giving a bribe is a crime. It is especially heinous when people who occupy high positions in government engage in it.
