ORIGINAL: captive4ever Sorry, but the "original kneeler" as you put was protesting about black people being shot to death by policemen, so it has EVERYTHING to do with color... Also I don't think an employer can take away someone's constitutional rights, period. I think that Kapaernick has a valid pont. Stand and respect the National anthem or the flag, or whatever, IF IT DESERVES RESPECT. The way things are right now what is there to rspect? It's just like the Presidency. You should respect that, but if the holder of the office doesn't respect it, then why should I/we? quote:

ORIGINAL: captive4ever Dictating how their people can act, protest or otherwise... reminds me of why we had a civil war... And someone, please, tell me how taking a knee during the national anthem is disrespecting anything. I read an interesting comparison between Kapaernick and Tebow and what the differences are between one kneeling and the other, and why one is OK and the other is not. A lot has to do with color... sorry---little or nothing to do with color and its a part of the conditions of employment. when the heavily expected and historical convention is to stand, and the standing is done as a show of respect, then kneeling runs contrary to it. that is especially so when the original "kneeler" makes statements somewhat to that affect. They have the right to protest for their opinion. The employer has the right to control their actions while on the job. If they wore Klan buttons while at work you would support their firing but since they support your issue you are against it. since the employer is getting paid by the taxpayer on both ends - namely sponsorship by the military and though subsidies from the state and local governments the only "issue" they are looking out for is their own. In case u hadn't noticed the klan is a private political group (at best) and the protests have neither the DFL or gop as its target. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/defense-military-tributes-professional-sports_us_5639a04ce4b0411d306eda5e In Part: Overall, 50 teams across the five major professional leagues had contracts with the military, including 18 NFL teams that received more than $5.6 million over the four-year span. Ten MLB teams took nearly $900,000, and eight teams each from the NBA and MLS had similar contracts. Six NHL teams received money, and the Air Force paid more than $1.5 million to NASCAR. So I see it as NASCAR making sure nothing upsets their military payments and their swag revenue that's heavily flag skewed. Paid Patriotism drives (pun!) the franchise, and is good business for them. I'm betting if the klan could pony up the cash to do the same without it being paid to the lawsuit they lost....I'm sure they would be hanging around the racetracks more. (bad joke intended.) I wouldnt be surprised if the klan already recruits close to the "race" tracks. (also pun intended.)
