FR bump stocks aren't arms, they are an accessory. So there really isn't a reason they can't be limited. My understanding is that one of the reasons they weren't before is because they were an aid for disabled sportsmen.

I did see your FR. You are correct that was how the manufacturer marketed the bump stock to the ATF. Yet it was the possible cyclic rate on which the ATF made its decision as far as I know.

I've seen the Swayze one.
It's ridiculous... and has only become more ridiculous over time.

The US is not going to be invaded any time soon, despite what the RWNJs believe about white culture being overthrown by Muslims and illegals.
The moment China or Russia or wherever touched down, the US would be hitting them back as hard as they could with the largest military force in the world.

We are living in a world of proxy wars and capitalist plunderers, not the pre-WWII 'great powers' scenario.

I don't know what area you live in, but I had a job that I loved and was good at, that just happened to make me a possible target for hate crimes. I made the decisions that were right for me, and I don't regret any of it. But you seem to think I'm obligated to let someone attack me before I make an attempt to stop it. And I don't believe that. Laws in my State agree with me.

My life matters to me a whole hell of a lot more than some drunken assholes' out to start trouble.

And carrying a gun was not my only way of dealing with any possible threats. I always had friends around, always had people I could trust close at hand when I was at any bar or club. And I went straight to them each time, and they kept me safe, when my drinks got spiked. One friend admitted to being jealous of how much free GHB I got. I learned the area I had to walk. I knew where people could hide, and where I could hide if I needed to. I kept my drinking to a minimum, unless I had a designated driver for the night. I got there way earlier than necessary when I was working, to get a closer parking spot. And when I was able to decide where I wanted to work, instead of taking any job I could get, I made sure it was better clubs, with more security and better parking available.

When you're being attacked, you don't get to decide what weapons are used against you, or how many people are attacking, or what kind of physical training they have.

I have honestly never been attacked by anyone since high school and have never not been able to defuse or avoid any potential conflict since then, but I am fairly certain that violence doesn't tend to start with someone pulling out a gun... it starts small and escalates. If you can control the situation, you have a better chance of defusing the tension.

Martial arts can defend against most kinds of attacks, including multiple assailants and knife attacks.
If the other person has a gun then you probably need a gun too but again, the other person/people having guns is part of why gun control seems so important.

You are so fucking funny in your ignorant bliss.

While I won't go so far as to call it fucking funny, I will say that HB is fortunate to not ever have to worry about these things. As a woman, I have to be more cautious in some situations that an average sized man wouldn't. As jvov has pointed out, as a gay man he has safety concerns that many men wouldn't. The list goes on.

I don't owe you my life story. You're assuming I had the time/money for martial arts training, or the physical ability, or the inclination. I didn't have any of that at the time. But I already knew how to fire a handgun and take care of it, so that was my choice.

Becoming proficient enough in martial arts to be able to use it as a defense can take time; I needed a quicker solution. Being able to use martial arts requires being within range of your opponent; a gun allowed me to defend myself from a nice, safe distance. I was raised with a healthy respect of guns, and taught to shoot as early as age 8. There was nobody in my life to teach me martial arts for free as I was growing up, no Mr Miagi.

FR

Well perhaps, if they really never find a certain motive, maybe he was a head-case who either:
1. Hated people. (would you shoot them for any other reason?)
2. Was trying to make a statement.
3. Was very mentally ill.
4. All of the above.

I wonder whether he could feel anything or was he just stuck in his head.

I don't know why people continue to live in places where they constantly feel threatened, but I really believe that simply keeping fit and strong will do a lot to help... and training is much better.

Of course, I can't speak for people like Nancy and the other RWNJs who apparently live in war zones where access to serious firepower is important to stay alive.

1. He took aim at a jet fuel tank and hit it twice. Jet fuel is almost impossible to ignite.
2. He tried to buy tracer rounds. These I believe would have ignited the jet fuel and I am thinking that is why he wanted them.
3. He amassed some 30 guns in less than one year.
4. His location could not have been compromised by even the most skilled Swat sniper
5. He fired for 9-11 minutes and also used a bump stock device. After a bit of research today I found out that would have rendered his aim and control very wonky.
6. He had 50lbs of explosives in his car, unprimed. Now given the extent of his planning I find it peculiar it was unprimed and not trapped with the boobies.

This is not a spree, or a man making his last stand, or grudge bearing bastard, or "saucy jack" notoriety, This is a man with a message standing against- but what?

That's not to what I was speaking. Whether or not you believe me I respect your fear and I'm chagrined that Jvov has to go through so much to live as he wishes. It's silly to say because it sounds cheap, but if I'm out walking at night and see women walking as well, I'll cross to the other side of the street away from them to show them they need not fear me. I do that out of respect for them and concern that I don't wish them to fear me.

For HB. Again, I wasn't going to say this. I'm nearly 62. I started training in martial arts at the age of 14. I still do Tai Chi, although I retired from fighting at around 40. In my late teens and early twenties I fought professionally. I'm pretty aware of most things martial arts. HB would have it that I can take on knife wielding attackers and gangs. I just have to laugh and note that he's a constant source of humor pretending to know so much. He's pretty ridiculous most of the time but also pretty assertive in his obvious ignorance and prejudices. He's a constant source of humor to me though and is not worth much effort beyond laughing at.

Look, I get that you're scared and a gun makes you feel safe... but does feeling safe mean you actually are safe? If you're afraid of getting jumped, why not take up self defense or a martial art? That would definitely make me feel safe-- knowing I can handle myself. Why go all the way to a weapon that could potentially be taken from you and used against you? Maybe if you have training... but I don't know how it's going to protect you if someone drops GHB into your drink.

I know I've never felt so unsafe that I needed a gun... ever. Maybe I just haven't been living the nightmare areas that everyone else seems to live in?

Really, Dude? You're going to have to excuse me that I find this so funny. Since you probably don't get the joke, I'll give you a nice, <cough> hypothetical <cough> scenario to see if you might feel differently regarding that neat martial arts idea.

Let's say you were a 5'2" female in your mid-forties. Your very specific opponent stands a foot taller than you, has a body mass/weight advantage over you, and (just for fun) has had military combat training over various intervals for the last 15+ years. Maybe thrown in some other neat circumstances like it's a stalker-y kind of dude AND he knew where you lived?

How awesome are you feeling about that self-defense course now?

BlackSinMaster -> RE: Las Vegas shooting unfolding now (10/6/2017 10:21:50 AM)

I am well versed in two martial arts.
I have not been in a real fight in my life.
I plan to keep it that way.

I would not try and disarm anyone with a knife or gun unless it was a last resort.

Some people cannot keep fit and strong HB. You would be wise to remember know that.

I could not own a gun. But let us say I did. It would not make me safe, or make me feel safe. Nor should it be the first thing a scared, or threatened, individual should reach for.

I honestly have no idea how this imposing, combat trained hulk worked his way into LadyPact's life... but given her chosen profession, it just seemed like the most obvious route. I mean, at least some of the people who pay for sexual services can't get it elsewhere because of their dispositions, right?

Anyways, again... I wasn't saying that my experience is everyone's experience or that other people don't live in scarier places, I am just speaking for myself.
I never claimed to be an expert or an authority on any of this-- just saying I found articles online that said it was possible, and I easily trust them more than I trust a fuckhead like you.

I agree. Except tracer rounds are pretty easy to find if you really want them and you're a gun guy that hangs out with other gun guys. So that would indicate to me he wasn't a gun enthusiast or hanging out with gun enthusiasts. More likely he was referencing less reputable sources to guide him in his endeavors. Which, again, points to what you said about his intent.
