Whats your favorite way to get rid of junk snail mail (Full Version)

I love to take all the creditcard apps I get, stuff them in the envelope they put in to send it back. Then stuff it with all my junk mail. Seal it up and send it back to them.

if i get snail mail- it means to mail man went. so- i in effect use them as an alert system. an empty mailbox means the mailman is running late.

wayward- almost every paper u touch has a code on it much connected to you...... the junk mail i mean.

why let them know you are alive and opened it?  isnt that sorta asking for more ?

keep in mind this is before rfids end up in paper.....

I live in a condo, so we have a mail room, to which all mail boxes are open, and we get at them from the other side, where they are locked.

I just push the junk mail back into the mail room, so it ends up on the floor.

Reasons 1 I like to write things on it like go f**k yourself and kiss my ass ect. ect. 2 if it wasn't for junk mail I don't get any at all here. the reason for this is when I was out driving last time the US postal service kept shuting my mail service off because I was gone 2 -3  months at a time. So everything I want to make sure that doesn't get sent back return to sender goes to my mothers house. It will be that way again when I go back to work as an driver. So I like to make them pay to throw my junk mail away. [:D]

LOL I usualy throw it away but I like your way much better

once i have completed parole- i think i will try that,. sounds fun...sorta devious....

I have a friend who does something similar, except she will even put rocks or sand in the envelope as well to make it heavier and cost the company even more in return postage.
 
Personally, I remove any identifying information and recycle what I can.  In My area, I can recycle catalogs and ads on newsprint.
 
The rest of it I shred and throw away.

I prefer to never have it arrive, than deal with it after it gets here, therefore these are 2 things I did which really helped:

First, I called  1-888-5-OPTOUT  which is an automated service run jointly by the four main credit bureaus. With one phone call you can opt out of pre-screened mailings from all four bureaus.
But be forewarned.,..they do ask for your social security number. If you feel unsure about the validity of this information,  you can verify the accuracy of the # through the various credit bureaus like Equifax, and so on. (I would never  expect anyone to trust a number they got from a board especially when identify theft is such an issue these days)
I did this and it cut down on the credit card offers tremendously. It does take a little time to go into effect, but it's supposed to be good for five years.

For other junk mail, you can go directly to www.directmail.com and get your name taken off the mailing lists much like the " do not call" registry.

I don't know about snail mail...

but I was working in the garden once and dug up one of those nasty Jerusalem Crickets.  Went right in the house with the God awful thing and fed it to the pet snapping turtles.  Was one of the most satisfying things I have ever done in my life.  I get a little stress relief just recalling it.

So after my divorce 10 years ago I paid off all my creditcards and cut them up, never got any more. So how do you give out what you don't have?

Wayward, after seeing your post, I realized I wrote credit card #, when what I meant was social security #, I edited my post ..now whether that would change what you'd do.....only you can say :)

you could enclude some of thier website propagandy in pdf form as well. high light ramdon sentences that may have a diff meaning.....

ummm- dont send sand. it could be thought to be bio terror.....
