Oh yay, so our oh so Christain Captain God-botherer is a rapey shit who thinks consent is too tricky to bother with. Why am I not in the slightest bit surprised.

I realize the importance of consent; the trouble is what is consent? Everyone here should be aware of the difficulty of consent.
...

To make it simple: a "No" is not to complicate a mating ritual but a clear expression of "no consent". Get it.

Where did you grow up in a jar?

anyone who has ever watched a james bond movie knows no doesn't mean no!

Times have changed, or have they really? I remember many years ago sitting in the universities student union eavesdropping on a couple of coeds. One coed was, with disgust, relating to the second coed how a guy had asked her if he could kiss her. She literally was appalled. The first coed demanded of the second coed, "why didn't he just grab me and try and kiss me to find out if I was interested?"

Not answering my question.
Of course not, it was a meaningless question. My parents didn't teach me no means no, they went beyond such simplistic and meaningless phrases like that and actually explained the complexity of life to me.

If your reference to "the difficulty of consent" didn't mean that bullying somebody into saying "whatever" and then doing something else entirely to them was a tricky and complicated process, what did it mean?
Wow, do you always go out of your way to think up bad motives for people statements?

I simply was saying that the entire concept of "consent" can be problematic and that is why I gave an example of what I was talking about.

Let me give you another example of the "the difficulty of consent".

There are many here that in their profile say they want to be 24/7 slaves and I imagine that is for the most part "consensual"; yet if anyone accepts that "consensual slavery", they should be aware that there is legally no such thing as "consensual slavery" and that all persons who keep a "slave" can be imprisoned for it and it doesn't matter that the "slave" has consented. I would say that would be a "difficultly with consent" and would warn those here that consent, no matter how willingly given, is no guarantee of freedom from difficulties. And that is what I meant by "the difficulty of consent".

bounty44 -> RE: Where Have All the SJWs Gone? (10/16/2017 4:12:02 PM)

aylee---would you sooner kiss a wookie?? laughs...

nnanji, there is a country song to that speaks to that very thing. the woman goes in the house after a first date, wondering what went wrong because the guy didn't kiss her. she sings:

"You should have kissed me
"You should have pushed me up against the wall
"You should have kissed me
"I was right on the edge and ready to fall"

also, and this has been talked about before in some related context. I cannot tell you how often I see in movies, or tv shows, a girl will just haul off and kiss a guy, completely by surprise, and get away with it (leia and luke). whereas there is little to no way the reverse is as prominent. the interesting implication being, supposedly, that a guys' consent is tacitly given just by virtue of his being a guy.

I think I already answered this; I will let the courts decide what to do with him. I think that's the way this country supposed to work, innocent till proven guilty.

OK. So you are going to entirely skip the man's own statements about how he recognizes he's done a great deal of harm, that 'times were different in his day,' etc.

(I have no idea why on God's Green Earth his attorney hasn't told him to shut the heck up, but that's another subject.)

It's also another subject as to whether or not some of the cases will go to trial. Some of the cases will be past the statue of limitations. Some will be difficult due to non-disclosure agreements signed and pay-offs to victims done. Physical evidence will be gone because the incidents happened years ago.

Even if formal charges are pressed, I doubt Weinstein will have to face the legal music. It won't surprise me if the man stays out of the country indefinitely. Another thing that doesn't necessarily make him innocent.

Once again, it's not my "job" to pass judgement on Weinstein.

In fact my entrance into this discussion didn't really have much to do with Weinstein, I merely mentioned that I thought it was somewhat humorous that a "kink" forum, that seems to be dedicated to the advancement of human foibles, was so ready to turn on Weinstein like a pack of ravenous wolves and I seem to have stirred up a hornet's nest.

At some moments of a relationship, some people don't want an option. I don't ask anyone that I want to kiss for permission, whether it's a friend, social acquaintance, or a date. That doesn't mean I'm creepy about it, or try to force it.

He's already admitted to inappropriate behavior. And he has more money than OJ did for his defense team.

Meanwhile, there's plenty of actual video of police officers killing people, with very few indictments to even go to trial.

The lack of a conviction doesn't mean innocence. It just means escaping a prison sentence.

All true but even without a trial he is ready being punished. He may never be convicted or spend a day in jail but as the saying goes; "he'll never work in this town again".

Yep, I've watched my share. Maybe that's what's wrong with me. ;-)

And an advert on a fetish dating site relates to somebody sexually molesting their underlings in the workplace how, exactly?

it'd make for an interesting social science experiment. imagine the two conditions:

(youd have to have a consent question otherwise itd never get through a review board)

1. pretty girl walks up to random guys on the street and asks "can I kiss you?"

2. handsome fellow walks up to random girls on the street and asks "can I kiss you?"

am pretty sure a statistically significant difference would show up in favor of "yes" for condition #1 and that the qualitative description afterwards would be far more colorful for condition #2.

Of course you're correct. That's why it scares/amuses me with all of the campus consent regulations. There is a condition that always works in the law, as well as military command. Too many stupid rules just generate scofflaws.

How about a third and fourth condition where the original questioners just go for the kiss.

Not likely. I can fluff boobs regularly, make them perky, and get all that creamy goodness ready for prime time, without any sexual connotation. Hell, I've been paid for it, and tipped extra. That doesn't mean you get to touch them.

A kiss can be brotherly/sisterly or friendly, as opposed to romantic or sexual. Like anything, you have to know your target audience.

JVOV is gay!
I don't think he actually dates women. Rules with dating gay men might be different.

That's why movies aren't base on reality.
