Harvey Weinstein Ousted From Motion Picture Academy

LOS ANGELES — Hollywood’s de facto governing body, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, voted overwhelmingly on Saturday to “immediately expel” Harvey Weinstein, breaking with 90 years of precedent and turning one of the biggest Oscar players in history into a hall-of-fame pariah.

The academy’s 54-member board of governors made the decision at an emergency session after investigations by The New York Times and The New Yorker that revealed sexual harassment and rape allegations against him going back decades.

In a statement, the academy said the vote was “well in excess of the required two-thirds majority.”

I am all for giving people chances, actually I probably do for ever. Yes I get out of hand from time to time and my aim is never to upset (anything save monsters), But I have limits when it comes to "alleged" crimes such as these as he was bleating from rehab he desrvers a second chance

This could be my least favorite topic ever.
1. I came across my first raped women when I was 17, she was one year older. The toll it had on her was enormous. I will never forget that for as long as I will live.
2. I had to explain to a women that she was actually raped - x amount of time ago and I am sure some of you saw me explain that story in full ( I am not telling it again: either you know of that story or you do not which broke my heart). Never forget that abusers and animals can be most adept at blaming it on the victim – that will explain why I loathe bad stereotypes - wont it, or manipulation of the truth.


They fucking knew and they allowed him to continue.

Of course he's a monster. And he has had many accomplices through the years: other Hollywood elites, assistants, and his brother, Bob, who is very much trying to do a power play for the studio while Harvey's hiding out in rehab.

I actually just made a Twitter account in the last week or so, to keep updated with Rose McGowan, who is seriously leading the charge against the Weinsteins. It's better to see it for yourself than have the media distort it for you.

no, hes not a monster, he is a sexual predator, with more power over women than he deserves.. The people who saw to it that it was kept under wraps, family friends and co workers who ignored it arent monsters either.
What they are part of is, the monster
Sexual assault, harassment, and rape is the monster. (I will wait for the trial).
Monsters are far more violent and deadly.
Not being believed is why people dont come forward. Thats the monster.
Elevating him to monster status is in my opinion is ignoring the ve3ry real issue.
Child pornoraphers, human traffickers, child abusers and killers are far worse, killers of 60 people are monsters.Violent rapists are monsters.
Of course this is just my humble opinion.

I do see what you're saying. You think that victim #1 could have spoken out immediately, and saved the other (likely hundreds of) victims the pain and suffering. Maybe. If she had credible evidence. But that takes more than he said/she said, for a conviction or to sway popular opinion. Rape kits weren't as readily available at hospitals in 1997, when the first accuser (so far) was reportedly attacked.

Don't forget, we had Bill Clinton in the White House at the time. Sexual harassment and coercion were not the sins they are now.

So many sex scandals in Hollywood just since the Clinton era. We pick and choose which ones we care about, which celebrities to crucify. Destroy Michael Jackson and celebrate Woody Allen.

And sometimes I think that Trump is karmic retribution for the discrediting of Clinton's accusers, and the failure to do a damn thing about it.

The 1st could have easily spoken out, and yet have been crushed by his influence never to see the light of day again…via his wealth. Influence and team of attorneys and poliuce force

There are many Harvey Weinstein in the top positions. The way he does it is intimidation and power.

And to see so many A List Actresses were all controlled and intimidated by him. It's sad.

But they had to put their career first. IF they can stood up years go, none of them may have gotten to where they were today. I understood the position they were in. And they they couldn't come out about it.

I saw an old interview of Gwyneth Paltrow on Letterman about Harvey Weinstein and you could even see her face then and her comments about Harvey, that she feared him. While David Letterman in his eloquent way, basically ask Gwyneth IF Harvey twisted her hand, and basically outright called Harvey an oppressing asshole, in a TV acceptable way.

But it's good to see Karma has bit him back.

And I sincerely hope, we will see more top executives taken down.

I encourage the Press to do more investigative journalism like this to take down the big guns.

I agree with that.

But I think right now, between the wife filing for divorce and the brother trying to take over the company, they're still up to business as usual. If there were a major class action lawsuit against Weinstein and/or his company, it could ruin them all.

And who would think that the woman who had the guts to out Harvey for sexual abuse was Courtney Love years ago, but as she was a trainwreck, nobody believed her.
