New science suggests the ocean could rise more and faster than we thought

Climate change could lead to sea level rises that are larger, and happen more rapidly, than previously thought, according to a trio of new studies that reflect mounting concerns about the stability of polar ice.

In one case, the research suggests that previous high end projections for sea level rise by the year 2100 — a little over three feet — could be too low, substituting numbers as high as six feet at the extreme if the world continues to burn large volumes of fossil fuels throughout the century.

“We have the potential to have much more sea level rise under high emissions scenarios,” said Alexander Nauels, a researcher at the University of Melbourne in Australia who led one of the three studies. His work, co-authored with researchers at institutions in Austria, Switzerland, and Germany, was published Thursday in Environmental Research Letters.

America will step up I feel and lead (Pb-obviously not Flint) the world I feel deep within my tremendous loins.

WD, do you have any idea how creepy and unpleasant your habitual style and mannerisms sound coming from a sock with a female avatar? There's idioms that only work with a cock...

Do you know how creepy I find liars? And enablers of lies and how many times it happened to my profile and friends?

My profile shows no picture at all – get that into your thicko fucking brain. We clear?

Have you considered running for president?

Fucked if I know - it is a stolen picture but it is not my doing (or my 2 friends). But my profile has zero uploaded and Scooby Doo set as my forum, avatar.

We could always get technical,
You are a sock are you not?
That is the essence of your existence on here, this recent incarnation of you. How do you feel about that and how do you explain that?

Every profile everywhere is at the start...only avatar.

It isn't until meeting on at least some variety of personal level, that we become more...than just avatar. So all communities learn to deal with it and of course, rather than screech how others are not real or liars thereby.

MrRodgers -> RE: New science suggests the ocean could rise more. (10/26/2017 2:07:08 PM)

Old science and new science agree, man's carbon footprint is significantly fucking with temp. which is seriously melting the world's ice.

There you have it in a nut shell and until man takes extraordinary steps to face a soon-to-be very extraordinary problem, soon the coasts are fucked (they are already pumping 24/7 and are now consulting the Dutch in Florida) and by 2100, we...are all fucked.

FR

And let me preface this by saying I certainly don't discount the impact modern man has had on the environment, or added to climate changes globally or regionally. Every dam we've built, every marshland we've decimated, every road constructed, and every garbage truck sent to the landfill has its consequences.

Bosco has/had a sarcastic line in his signature I happen to agree with. Paraphrasing here: 200+ years of hurricanes, but this last one was because of climate change.

The Earth has undergone many changes in its 4.5billion years. Science can't always explain them. But man has had little impact on any before now. It would be good to control what we can, limit our footprints on the planet as a whole, and avoid pollution as much as possible. But I don't believe everything can be blamed on modern man with our industry, technology, and waste.

Science lacks a control in this experiment; a planet exactly like Earth, without industry and aerosol spray cans. And since temperatures on our planet ebb and flow quite regularly, we may have periods of stability, but absolutely no certainty of it.

Though none of us were around to see it, we're not all that far removed from the 'Little Ice Age' from the 1400's to about 1850. And our true Ice Age was only 11,500 years ago.

It was hotter on Earth than it is now when dinosaurs roamed the planet. And much colder when wooly mammoths and sabre toothed tigers were around. Lifeforms have no need to evolve or adapt if there are no changes to force it.

Science can't tell us what our temperatures are supposed to be, because there is no way to know. Anything we have to say is anecdotal at best, similar to 'uphill, in the snow, both ways'.

We have El Niños and La Niñas, droughts and flash floods, blizzards, hurricanes, tsunamis, earthquakes, wild fires, changing seasons 4 times a year... we can't explain away the root causes of many of these by blaming man.

Hope you got proper permission from Hannah-Barbera before using their copyrighted image of Scooby Doo.
Copyright infringement is a pretty serious crime, and Scooby Doo is not in the public domain.

We don't need science to tell us. We have statists for that.

The only way you could possibly agree with that is if you don't read what any of the articles are actually saying, ignore what the science says, and then rely solely on your own feelings to draw conclusions. I have been paying attention to Bosco's signatures, and all of them have been deeply ignorant, made worse by the pride he takes in that ignorance.

We don't have to agree on everything, but surely you are better than that.

If I could have just one wish this Christmas, it would be for everyone everywhere to finally realize that just because something can happen naturally, it doesn't mean that it can't also be manmade.

Which statists are saying what the temperature of the world should be?
You're making that up.

The models project a slight cooling trend without the addition of greenhouse gas emissions.
Obviously, we can't reverse time or control the temperature of the world.

Seems like something you would know.

Don’t bother me with this guff ever again MrRodgers.
The original criticism and judgment called Creepy WhoreMods is by TOC 2007 definition a troll sock escaping a past ban (many are on here- all guys funnily enough) - but the 2017 guidelines would nullify that, and let us not over look since the beginning plus 90% of the women on here are either men or wretched beggars begging for rent money or antibiotics or next needle – people of integrity

Denkel- refer to me correctly ( I wonder who you could be ;), oh and nice tits for a 60 year olde bloke….avatar section but I always wanted to shag Daphne and Jessica Rabbit.

Anyway back to the debate.
