Status: offline 		major league baseball recovered well from that really bad taste in the mouth players strike a number of years ago. I think the nfl will weather this also.

the whole trademark and copyright area is an interesting one.

no doubt the worst offenders get caught, and even sometimes punished, but my goodness the stuff that must go on beneath the radar screen.

I read an absolutely fascinating book this past year called "how music got free." its about the development of digital technology for music and how that subsequently led to bootlegging and file sharing.

They haven't "recovered" from me. I used to be (easily) a twenty games per year guy. Since the '94 strike, I've been to three major league games; one was when I was stationed in Jawja in '96 and the Yanks were playing the Braves in the W.S. series (A guy I served with was also a dis-placed Noo Yawkuh and had gotten tickets; one for me on spec so I went), one was when I first got back to N.J. and realized my youngest son (born in '88), unlike his brothers, had never been to a major league game. That didn't seem fair so I had to rectify that. He was more into football, anyway, and one because I was engaged to a lady from "Merry Olde" and, obviously, she'd never been to a major league game.

Status: offline 		Yeah, tell that to Puerto Rico. Minimum of 25 Papa John's on the island.

We're talking a full third quarter. Most businesses are closed at a certain time the day before, then the full day of the storm, and until the storm has safely passed. So roughly 2 full days lost out of 92, minimum. Add time for any power outages, remembering that any ingredients that require maintaining temperatures (as in meats & cheese) would have to be tossed, thus not available for sale. Then of course add time for the supply chain to get back up to speed again.

was the bottom line helped by the hurricanes, obviously no, but overwhelmingly the culprit is elsewhere, and when the owner lays the blame on the nfl, even if he is right-leaning, im okay taking him at his word.

Status: offline 		no doubt mlb lost some fans forever, but some came back and new ones joined in...and field of dreams, and the sandlot are still two of my favorite movies!

I just finished reading "when only the ball was white"---its a history of the old negro leagues. unfortunately, the book was very choppy and didn't flow well, but still somewhat informative and interesting.

laughs...tell you what, when I sell my bootleg of you and your band-mates playing at the Scranton tavern, i'll give you half the proceeds!

I bet you would still like the book though---it was fascinating.

No live performances, lately, but I did audition, recently for a former member of a well known (nationally, at least) band from this area (they were formed less than seven miles from where I sit). I bump into the guy, now and then, at my luthier's place.

I don't know if I could actually, tour in the condition I'm in, though. There are days, I can't move reliably control my fingers, hands or arms.

I guess I'm "doomed to be a 'studio musician'" for the rest of my life.

Hurricanes also hit Texas, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi... Wildfires in California...

And as I've already pointed out, NFL franchise owner Jerry Jones is also the 2nd biggest single investor in the pizza chain. I believe this is a conflict of interest that he's using to get Goodell ousted.

and as I said, those things were very temporary in nature and life goes back to business as usual very quickly.

for your point to have strength you'd have to compare papa johns to other pizza franchises in the same locale. has little caesars, dominos or pizza hut sales declined?

otherwise, again, im going with what the owner says.

while it might be interesting that jones is a large share holder, I don't see how that creates a conflict of interest nor do I really see how it gives him any, or at least much, leverage to do anything in regards to the commissioner.

Papa John's is absolutely revolting.

Papa John is actually sold as a premium pizza in Malaysia, much more higher end and expensive than Pizza Hut or Dominos.

So gee, how they did manage to expand tasting that bad and charging much higher?!!

I've had alot of gourmet woodfire pizzas, as I love my bufala mozzerella and arugula pizza with parma ham ALOT and they need to be wood-fired with thin crust, and mind you, Pizzas are luxury item here in my country. A 12 inch pizza from pizza hut cost me 29.90bux here. I am sure it's much cheaper in the US. I saw it for only 5AUD in Australia. Ridiculous cheap. But I actually don't think Pizza Hut is crap at all and I am willing to pay 30bux for it. One of the best pizzas out there. Great pan crust, always crispy and tasty, great tomato sauce, and good quality pepperoni.

I think dominos is not good at all. Worst tomato sauce. Watery and overly sour and sweet. Pizza hut got this rich tomato sauce that rivals top restaurants tomato sauce pastas.

But Papa Johns sound really bad! Not sure if I am gonna try it now.

Mix review! The only Papa John I know near me is like 5 hours drive away from me all the way in Malaysia KL haha!

All this is doing is punishing the workers that are already struggling to live on low service wages. I am all for punishing team owners and the NFL in general by choosing not to attend their games. Even this is punishing workers at the stadiums and I hate to do it but it is still better than punishing both. And low attendance will have a greater affect on owners than boycotting Papa John pizza.

I'm wondering if you remember George Soros posting a list of "Hannity " sponsors in an attempt to get him pulled off the air because he wouldn't stop investigating the connection of a dead low-level DNC aide and Wikileaks? That attempt backfired, miserably. It also resulted in at least one advertiser (USAA) pulling it's ads from liberal outlets as well as Hannity's show.

There was also the attempt, by virtue-signalling leftists to get Ivanka Trump products pulled from several outlets. Oooops! Profits went up!

Does anyone remember the name "Joy Villa"? Yep. She won an Emmy Award, after wearing a MAGA dress to an awards show.

I do feel bad for the workers at Papa Johns, but I don't blame John. The company got their "Official Sponsor" title before "oppressed" multi-millionaires decided to use our flag and our anthem as a target for an attack instead of ... I don't know ... using Facebook or Twitter or calling a press conference (If players call it, media will come).

I don't know that I understand how the "worker" is going to suffer other than lay-offs, but it has prompted John (in defense of his bottom line which will prevent potential lay-offs from happening) to tell the NFL that he, as a major sponsor (customer of the NFL), has a problem with how they're conducting business.

Papa John's pizza honestly tastes like shit, Greta. Grab a piece of cardboard, slather it in tasteless pizza sauce and cheese, bake it, and you essentially have a Papa John's pizza. If you wete in Malaysia anyway, Id still say to go somewhere better for pizza. Its definitely not worth making a trip there just to eat Papa John's shitty pizza

They might actually make it different there. i correspond in a group of audiophiles and one of them swears by Papa Johns, but he is not nearby.

Buddy of mine had a job building Papa Johns pizzerias. That has slacked off. They may pay their workers shit wages butt he made good money. he did not actually erect the buildings, he made them conform to their decor and meet food codes.
