Not that I owe any fucking body an explanation.
I read/or glance at many online newspapers, including CNN, the Washington Post {which I get on weekends} and several others.
I LOVE my Daily Mail, which I read daily, but again not exclusively.
I will continue to post from the Daily Mail, as long as other folks post from their
CLEARLY BIASED sources.
PEACE

I grew up reading the daily mail in print...it has changed over the years, but then who hasnt? Its more problematic than ever, altho being able to find out stuff on anything is superb. Yes I am part of the problem
I would probably wither without it.

My hubby reads the daily mail every day online, sometimes he will point out things he thinks I will like and too many that he knows I wont like, it stirs my interest in fact searching:)
I read, watch and listen to far to much politics for it to be healthy...I read the daily mail, some of the stories are good, but I disagree with their politics , thats just my opinion. I read breitbart and alex jones...not just to make fun of their fans, I watch fox shows, I listen to rush etc.
My personal favourite right now and for a long time is rachel maddow. I know millions hate her, for whatever reason, its the nature of the beastie.
Hell Im rambling..basically what I wanted to say is...you do your thing woman!!!

I am sorry for being nasty Lucy, sometimes I get protective of the DailyMail.
I know that makes me a bit daft, but so be it.
I stumbled across the DM, 2 years ago, the summer before the Presidential election in the states.
I would find information there, not covered in other places---THEN I found the comment section.
That is when my DM addiction started.
I am shamelessly addicted to the DM at this point.
😳😂
They often will have coverage of LOCAL news, that is more detailed then my heavily censored local
D.C. Coverage!
I can't tell you the many times I have gotten details and photos, 24 hours before my local and cable channels.
DM OFTEN has information that is withheld/or not readily available, to the general public in the U.S.-- time after time.
👏
Lucy, I fully realize they are off base or prone to dramatize situations, sometimes.
We live in an era, it is easy to check the DM against unlimited other "sources" and draw your own
conclusions.
They may be over dramatic in their coverage of this plague, BUT that is why I love the DM.
I rather but a bit over concerned about issues this serious, than under concerned.
As all issues in life, your caring or give a damn about any issue, is a personal taste.
I skim the DM, read a lot and skip a lot, and certainly read many other sources.
8/10 times I post from DM, cause that is how I am rolling these days.
{Reading DM, like your husband, I hope he is well}
I can't tell you the COUNTLESS times, I have commented on some situation, and others have said they NEVER heard about it--and
I am talking US news.
Cause they don't read the DM!

Hugs to the eternal, spirited, life long liberal in Canada.
I love your enthusiasm/often even when I don't fully agree with you.

Hopefully, I will be able to rejoin the liberal fold, if the Democrats even "come close " to getting their shit together.

p.s.- sometimes I even find articles in my precious Daily Mail that are clearly inaccurate, inappropriate or just bullshit.
Daily Mail is flawed like most sources.
Peace and blessings

I'm well aware of my flaws in this matter:) I would be more worried if you agreed with everything I posted, its not required to have some respect from me.
Wilful ignorance is my pet peeve in most things, and being fundamentalist in anything is the second.
You are far from either of those:)
in my opinion fwiw i enjoy your posts
Hubby is getting there, he is in remission, so while its kicked his ass, he is a hundred times better than this time last year, thank you for the kind wishes and support!! its been rough on him, and damn is he grumpy, but I wouldnt have it any other way.

I am glad your hubby is in remission and doing better.

That is the famous Black Death, and so yeah, this is worrying shit especially if it does spread to the mainland, that could be a fucking disaster of epic proportions.

Antibiotics! We got em. They were not available in 1447. Not to worry.

BBC does a good job explaining the different types of "plagues" that have existed for thousands of years,
and why many are concerned about this "plague" in particular.

This article EXPLAINS, why this could be the worse plague in 50 years.

BBC- Why plague caught Madagascar unaware

It looks like they are on top of it, I hope it is well contained.

In pneumonic, the victim needs treatment within 24 hours of symptoms or its pretty fatal.

Some moron I was reading on another site was claiming is the best yet another reason for stopping refugees from coming into america...
never mind the fact that it takes refugees at least 18 months to step foot on US soil.
Immigration, isnt as long granted, but quarantining symptomatic people for four or five days before allowing flights from the area would be a start if it gets out of hand.
There is also a another small breakout of marburg virus in uganda which is a horrific disease as the above

Moronic indeed - not taking into account that Yersinia pestis is endemic in the SW USA too, in rodents, especially the grey squirrel (and their fleas). Norman Cantor reported a case in the 1980s when a woman chopped a squirrel with her lawn mower and got infected with plague in consequence.

This does not change the need for quarantine for suspected pneumonic plague patients and regions. This is what quarantine was introduced for in the late Middle Ages.

I don't know the figures about Malagasy travellers and goods entering the US but I guess - since Madagascar is maybe the poorest country on Earth - it might be close to nil. Anyone knowing any figures?
btw - the plague usually travels with goods (and the rodents and fleas with them)
