ORIGINAL: DesideriScuri Um, why is there going to be an ethics probe on a Senator over something that happened 3 years prior to him becoming a Senator? I wonder how many Senators would have nothing to worry about regarding an ethics probe just over their time as Senators, and not including any time before that. I agree, but there are those that could bastardize the same case FOR that despicable Moore. Look, I believe Moore pursued "relationships" with teen-agers, but looking objectively: There's been no finding of fact, these incidents happened long before he was a senator (he isn't even one, now) and yet, the senate is squawking about refusing to seat him, if elected. I'm betting there's some clause in the rules that covers the time before a senator is elected. If there's not, this almost guarantees that Franken is in for a bumpier ride than he deserves. I DESPISE his politics, but he has come forward and owned up to an action that might not be a crime (It's tough to tell if he's touching the young lady's breasts from that photo). if the argument is (and this isn't his argument, from what I've seen): "It was before I was a senator" and it stands, Moore might skate, similarly, if there's no finding of fact in his case. Peace, Michael Unless the Ethics Probe is solely investigating his time as a Senator, to determine if he's engaged or not engaged in unethical behavior while seated as a Senator. I still wonder how many sitting Senators would be squirming if there was an Ethics Probe into their times as Senators. I'm willing to bet the vast majority would not be very confident that they'd come out squeaky clean. Oh, and I don't agree with Senator Franken's politics (and I didn't find him all that funny before his political career, either). But, imo, that doesn't matter. No, it doesn't. I don't like anything about him and wouldn't vote for him. But that has nothing to do with whether I think they should investigate him. This has the same relationship to him being a senator as the unproven allegations against Moore has for him. Except with Moore, the voters will actually get to decide whether or not they want someone like him in office.
