In all fairness, he kind of had to resign that position.

It's looking like some of these accusations are "fresh enough" that whatever happens in the ethics committee, he's going to be going to trial (if for no other reason than misappropriation of public funds.

Sitting on the Judiciary committee, he's probably had something to do with approving a decent number of federal judges. Also, if still on the committee, he can content to "advise and consent" on future appointees to the bench.

How loud would the screaming be if his trial was before a judge he had something to do with "championing"? Heaven forbid, it's a judge appointed/approved after today. That would tear it all.

It's kind of like Mueller running the Russia investigation. Ya know?

well, no misappropriations of public funds, republicans in 1995 made the law for the payouts of treasury money, they have paid out $17 million in 264 (varies between 260-268) settlements. We know where 1 settlement was made for 27 thou. We only have 263 perps and 16.973 mill to go.

except that there's been some talk that this $27,000 came out of Conyers' own "war chest"; not out of the congressional fund. Donations rather than taxes. As a taxpayer, I appreciate that. As an American, I think both are troubling.

so, then the float is somewhere between 17 and 16,973 million. And 263.

I'm still more concerned about the number beer of settlements Trump has signed over the years.

What a crazy howling dingbat

Lucylastic -> RE: Conyers Resigns as Top Democrat on Judiciary Panel (11/28/2017 3:39:36 PM)

no, she met with the victim
but nice try
are you pissed she wouldnt meet with trump yet?

JVoV -> RE: Conyers Resigns as Top Democrat on Judiciary Panel (11/28/2017 4:15:04 PM)

Why is it incredulous that Conyers be called an icon? He has been a huge part of major legislation for a long time now.

Weinstein was an icon. Spacey was an icon. Cosby too. If we only know someone professionally, or only know one piece of their life, then it's impossible to gauge the possibilities of their true character.

And I never saw Pelosi say he was wrongly accused. In fact, she has said he deserves due process.

Without knowing all of the details in the settlement, there is no way to know what happened, or gauge just how inappropriate it was.

There isn't really a clearly defined line that constitutes inappropriate behavior between adults. It's all based on 'feelings' and 'intentions'. There is room for many many misunderstandings. Women often don't speak up to deter the advances of their male coworkers, and guys can be clueless when a woman does subtly refuse him.

Its not to me, icons fall all the time, I simply posted the title of the piece.

JVoV -> RE: Conyers Resigns as Top Democrat on Judiciary Panel (11/28/2017 5:35:06 PM)

Oh. Nah, I was just making a FR to the OP & Bosco's clickbait headline.

You would only be able to understand the issue if a Republican were the accused, and some conservative woman stood by him while calling him things like "an icon"

Pelosi is supposed to be a pussyhat firster, and she was defending an accused pussygrabbing feind? They're guilty until the end of time, no trial needed

Now that Trump is president... [;)]

She spoke to the "victim" and immediately changed. Political expediency or not. She admitted she has changed her view. she had the balls to do it. And she is woman enough to take the criticism. Conyers is stepping down but the ethics committee will still "try" him. Whether criminal charges and a trial happen will depend on facts. and statutes. It does tell me that ethics needs to be a major state issue as well.

Its a shame that scum repubs do anything but.(PS this is to identify scummy repubs, not all repubs, as I am aware that both here and in the GOP, many repubs are denouncing moore, and trump and other assaulters)
