A brutal new analysis shows the GOP tax bill would do little for US economic growth
Business Insider

The Tax Policy Center released an analysis of GOP tax bill's economic impact. The TPC found that the bill would only boost GDP by 0.7% in 2018, well short of growth promised by Republicans. The bill would also add $1.23 trillion to the federal deficit over 10 years, even when adding in new revenue from economic growth. A new analysis from a nonpartisan thank tank showed that the Republican tax plan would do little to boost economic growth and would cause the federal deficit to balloon.

Way to ignore the data.

But sure. Google it and you’ll find dozens of dire analyses.

Btw, this is Congress hating. As usual, Trump didn’t actually do anything behind Tweeting hate.

I am so pissed at the Democrats...and still the GOP is determined to be far worse.

Data? Let’s see, $1.23 trillion is a ballon to a $20 trillion debt and $10 trillion wasn’t a ballon to a $10 trillion debt? Even if the Left Leaning center is right, where were they nine years ago?

A mere 5%.

Hell, hardly noticeable.

Maybe we should double down, right?

Exactly - where were the same howlers with their "dire" "brutal" analysis as Obama and his minions were gleefully doubling the debt

I think by "doubling down" he's just referring to doing something over again that was bad the first time around.

on the charge of "ignoring the data"---if one doesnt agree with the premises from which the data are given birth, then I wonder how much worth there is in discussing the numbers.

its not the data per se that needs discussed, its rather the underlying assumptions.

Apparently that’s your opinion, or at least was while the previous administration was 100% doubling down. It’s funny how you can use your sarcasm...wait not funny haha...to chastise the mote in someone’s eye.

Or that, as actual math shows, GOP is lying.

Hell, they could barely pass it even in power.

I totally think the deficit matters. Well, to be honest, I did until I became a non-working drudge on society. (On SS) Now I’m all for the liberal tax and spend to make us poor deserving s people happy and warm and fuck the next generations having to pay for it. I’m totally with you now and as I go through the last stages of my life I’ll have the totally selfish attitude of gimme now fuck the future that liberals have spouted for my entire productive life. But, in this instance your argument is fallacious because the deficit you’re pontificating about(which you would have cheered had the previous administration implemented it) is totally fake news. So, as usual, you got nothing.

1) again, just making up my views. Against it when Reagan did it, against it when Bush II did it, against it when Bush Lite did it.
2) so, you weren’t concerned when the deficit rose in the previous administration? Huh. Interesting.

Our saving grace is this: The House and Senate passed different versions of the bill. That is not allowed. Before a bill can go to the White House to be signed, the EXACT SAME VERSION must pass the House and the Senate.

Since the House originated this one, and passed their version first, the Senate now has to send their version back to the House who will then call a CONFERENCE COMMITTEE. This is where the differences between the House and Senate versions are theoretically ironed out until there is one bill with language the House and Senate can agree on.

So the version that comes out of Conference Committee must be voted on AGAIN!
