In a bold move to forget politics during the holidays, President Trump sets a precedent!

Trump to Jewish Democrats: You’re Not Invited to My Hanukkah Party

President Donald Trump failed to invite Jewish Congressional Democrats to the White House’s annual Hanukkah party on Thursday night, demonstrating that Washington partisanship can poison even the most benign religious holidays.

The decision shocked some Jewish Democrats, who observed that previous presidents had invited members of the opposing party to religious holiday parties.

“Why would you make partisan decisions about invitations that are entirely not partisan?" Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) told McClatchy News. "Hanukkah is something that’s important to all Jews; the tradition is to invite the Jewish members of Congress.

Every previous president stupidly put partisan politics aside during the holidays, forgetting party lines and trying to remember just what the season is supposed to mean.

But not our president, even after his bold (and internationally criticized announcement earlier this week) he goes and basically leaves out Jewish members of congress at an annual holiday celebration based purely on party membership.

Now, of course his rabid supporters on this board are going to praise this as a good thing.

Personally, I feel that it is petty, and shows a marked immaturity in our president (if his tweet posts attacking opponents wasn't evidence of that already.)

Donald Trump is acting less like a statesman and more like a petty, angry child.

And of course, his statement in his speech 'the love is all about Jerusalem' pretty much smacks of hypocrisy, when he leaves out Jewish democrats, who like Christians, and Muslims, hold the city as sacred and a vital part of their religion.

But I guess this means, since the President did it, I can not invite people I cant stand to my holiday celebrations, even though the main theme is 'Peace on earth and good will to men' for this time of year.

On a side note, historically speaking, it is attitudes similar to his that have cost both parties the mid terms. And his bullshit about attacking and insulting everyone that disagrees with him, regardless of party is going to bite him in the ass.

I think you nailed it, I just hope next time around someone worth voting for runs or we will keep having more of the same.

The spectacle of the Rock, Kanye West, Jon Voight and Mia Farrow chasing a nomination in 2020 should be entertaining, even if the long term results of them getting one will be a lot less fun.

Yes, of course but there are many among us, myself included, who felt this way almost a year ago. Trump just keeps reinforcing the belief that yes, he's a childish narcissist.

I think by now that's gone beyond being a mere belief and qualifies as a fact.

Quite: they've been insisting that he isn't an American citizen and shouldn't be president ever since he was sworn in.

You know, it has nothing to do with 'being nice.'

Even those that President Bush has serious issues with were invited to the white house holiday celebrations. Clinton invited the GOP members that wanted his head during the impeachment deal.

And not all dems have been treating him like shit, although, he has attacked any and everyone that disagrees with him on tweeter on tv since he was elected.

It comes down to putting all the bullshit aside and trying to act like decent people during the holidays and trying to use those 'gatherings' to find common ground.

Hell, you want to talk hypocrisy, Dems condemned Franken to the point he resigned, and your favorite asshole is defending that jackass in Alabama and calling dems hypocrites for the same thing, even though the dems that have been accused of sexual harassment have been pushed to resign by fucking dems.

And every world leader has pretty much condemned his decision to move the embassy because it is the most boneheaded stupid diplomatic move that can be made.

When he could extend a hand to the Jewish Democrats because of this, he didnt.
