The houris (/ˈhuriz/)[1] (from Persian: حوری) or ḥūr (plural of ḥaurāʾ or ḥūrīyah[note 1] Arabic: حورية) are beings in Islam, described in English translations as "full-breasted companions of equal age [or well-matched]",[2][3] "lovely eyed",[4] of "modest gaze",[5] virgins[6] of paradise, denoting humans and jinn who enter Jannah (paradise) after being recreated anew in the hereafter.[7] The word itself occurs four times in the Qur'an, always in the plural:

Quranic description[edit]
In the Quran, the houris are called "companions", described as being "restraining in their glances" (chaste),[9][10] with "modest gazes",[5] "wide and beautiful/lovely eyes",[4][9][11] "eyes like pearls",[4] and "full-breasted".[2]
Shia description[edit]
To Shia scholars, the most important fact of the description of the houris is that good deeds performed by believers are recompensated by the houris, which are the physical manifestations of ideal forms, that won't fade away over time, and who will serve as faithful companions to those they accompany.[12]
Sunni description[edit]
Details of the houris that have been pointed out by Sunni scholars include that the houris would not urinate, defecate or menstruate.[13] It has also been said that all houris are "transparent to the marrow of their bones",[14][15] "eternally young",[16] "hairless except the eyebrows and the head",[16] "pure"[15] and "beautiful".[15] Islamic scholars such as Ibn Majah and Al-Suyuti have also described them as having libidinous vaginas.[17][18]
