Clothing choices for women can be complicated and honestly doesn't entirely make sense to me. There are so many options compared to clothing for men. LA, for some it isn't a lack of time, patience, energy or desire -- I'm not as good with color, clothing style or as musical as the average person. Thankfully, men can get by with simple choices and look perfectly fine.

When I choose a submissive's clothing I will usually choose either something that I liked that she has put together before, have her pick out more than one outfit and choose between them or I'll choose one article of clothing, such as a particular skirt and have her choose the rest to match. I'm also perfectly happy most of the time to have her pick out what we wear when going somewhere together as part of her service to me.

As long as she or we are presentable and appropriate then who picked out what isn't an issue with me. Every woman I've been involved with so far has been at least a little better at knowing what looked best than I do. Helping me pick out which shirt and tie best matches a suit for a formal occasion is a useful and easy way to be of service -- I think we both win that way. By the time we're picking clothing out for each other she's found I have strong suits that make up for the weaker ones.

I have, however, figured out those three little words that every woman wants to hear. "Look -- shoe sale!"

Once again you isplay your learning with subtle grace.

As for the thread discussion. I think its important for the Dominant to choose what their sub will wear, but as a sub, and not a slave, its equally important for them to have some input.

A girl who becomes mine soon gets a good idea of what I think suits them. So long as they stick to that then I won't micromanage their wardrobe. Occassionaly I will inform them of some clothing choise for a particular event or if I like a certain item of clothing they may get told to wear it if we are going somewhere. Very occassionaly I will go through and pick out each and every item they are to wear that day simply because it pleases me to do so, but most of the time, so long as she dresses to my taste I let her get on with it.

In the recent past, there was a "Dom' i met who desired women who wore clothing that looked like a spandex flashback to the 80s-90s. Eeew! i am still am not sure if it was for strictly for humilliation or inept tastes. Needless to say it was not a match for other reasons than clothing choices. Since then, i have been trained to dress in an "accessible" way which is a very nice incentive to dress accordingly while dressing in a fashionable style which may or not be a consideration to the Dominant at all. However, i hope i continue to have a Dominant who wants a tasteful dresser regardless of who decides the apparel. Currently, i am allowed to choose but enjoy any input. Also, i do take in account that for different occassions and humilliation purposes that this options varies at His or Her discretion of course.........just general everyday wear is what i am refering to...

i do have some questions related to this topic:
What type or style of clothing do Dominants prefer their submissives to wear--and does humilliation or sensuality play play a bigger emphasis on the chosen garment? Is choosing the clothing a desired daily ritual or strictly special occassions?

well.....it depends on the day. if I'm doing something to punish her or if that day I decide I want her to wear something diffrent, I will force her to change. but most of the time I dont chose what she wears.

To eloborate on my earlier post, there is nothing more delightfull as seeing a slave wearing nothing more than a shirik. However said slave's will wear precisely what pleases me at the time if anything at all. It should be remembered that the wearing of clothes is a privelage not a right for a kajira and the permission to beg to wear clothes must be earned...

I appreciate good grooming in a sub - like clothes to be pressed, in good condition, no stains or tears. Since a large part of service to me is caring for my shoes and clothes, there are a few hallmarks I look for that show a sub really knows what is required. Normally I won't choose clothes, but in the same way many vanilla couples do, just make suggestions, show appreciation for how a sub looks. I have heard of many male doms who ask a femsub to dress very provacatively all the time when it simply wouldn't be appropriate. I want a sub I can respect and others can respect - making her or him dress inappropriately in public doesn't help this. As to domestic chores, I find many msubs in particular who want to be made to do chores naked. I pretty well don't care if they do it in a Barney costume - as long as it gets done, correctly. I want a sub who gets a little stiff in the pants on the AJAX Aisle at the market. LOL

Justa, lol, yes, a sub can't have too many pairs of shoes or boots!
Whiplash, I agree, I like a sub dressed appropriately for all occaisions and to look elegant when we go out to dinner or a show
therefore I don't mind spending money on her wardrobe as well as her lingerie and fetishwear.
And yes there are times when jeans and a sweater are appropriate too.
Like Raven said I don't really want to "micromanage" a sub or slaves wardrobe but I do like to approve what she'll be wearing for a night out or dinner or an afternoon outing.
And no I DON'T like her to dress like a slut in public.
I like to dress nicely as well like a sportcoat, shirt and tie for a show.

I set a basic standard of dress and after that she's on her own except for the fact that I get to VETO any choices she makes based on my whims.

She generally dresses rather casually since I expect her to work and I don't expect her to do it in restrictive clothing or clothing that will cost alot to repair when it gets stained or torn.
As for times out she dresses in things she knows I'll like for the most party and presents herself for approval before we leave.
