ORIGINAL: Lucylastic I rarely do comedies these days except US politics Yep. As comedies go, it's hard to beat the White House Follies isn't it? It has everything - a wealthy avaricious family whose members ceaselessly scheme against each other while robbing the country blind, a cast of mendacious sycophants as the White House staff, evil hypocritical and self serving politicians and rapacious Machiavellian Russians populating the fringes. Above all the stars of the show themselves - the Trump family. The Brady Bunch they certainly ain't! Who could have imagined the utterly amoral ginger patriarch and his ridiculous comb over, whose ego knows no bounds, a pathological liar with an alley cat's gutter cunning, the duplicitous businessman ripping off all and anyone stupid or naive enough to enter into dealings with him - the banks, the IRS, his shareholders, other businesses, his clients, the Govt, no one gets spared - his trophy wife, dutifully counting the days until she can divorce the monster and get her life back, the idiot sons lurching from one self imposed disaster to the next, the beautiful ambitious daughter with her ruthless equally ambitious conniving so so slick husband, all operating against dark hints of incest and rape, while flirting with neo Nazis anti-Semites and an assortment of racist filth ? The first season - with its constant firings of staff, revelations of underhand dealings, shady meetings with dubious foreigners, chaotic legislative failure after failure, sexual indiscretions, incessant attacks on the institutions of democracy, ongoing war with the media, the deployment of the brilliant 'fake news' strategy - was an absolute riot from start to finish, with viewers in stitches, leaving them wondering: 'how could they possibly top an opening season like that'? Stay glued to your seats and your sets folks! Don't you dare change channels! Season #2 promises to be even zanier, funnier, more devious, with more shocks and surprises than the first. Five Stars ***** Excellent review but like all continuing dramedies, their is need to find a character(s) that the audience will to take into their confidence let's say, what TV land tells us, is finding somebody, anybody, they...can root for. So a short stint will be its fate as...there is nobody.
