I'm losing it in laughter. Pence did a check of his stuff and found classified documents. Imagine that.

Where's the FBI raid? The docs must be stolen!

Wait ren minutes until I can stop laughing.

So I guess now we'll see Republicans say intent matters. And everything else I've been saying about the Biden docs.

It still looks bad for Trump. Because INTENT MATTERS.

Yes, Vice President's can declassify documents. There is a procedure to follow in the declassification of any document, regardless of who wants to declassify it. So Whoopi was right? Thanks Bosco!

The right-wing media got hold of the clip, and in their OWN THE LIBS campaign, added text saying that was not true. But it was true. Obama actually did sign an EO that did that. So instead of owning the libs, the right-wing media owned themselves. And Bosco proved that he has to follow his dark overlords to know what to post.

First of all...

The Espionage Act does not care if documents are classified or declassified. The classification makes NO difference if the documents contain information relating to National Security. It is 100% irrelevant.

The entire "President can do anything he wants and declassify documents by just thinking about them" was an attempt by Trump sycophants to provide him with an excuse for his childish behavior.

It is equally irrelevant if a Vice President can or cannot do this, or whether it actually happened or not. (And I sure as hell do not give a shit what Whoopi said on The View.)

Secondly, this whole "he declassified the documents" argument, makes the behavior FAR worse. (not better!)

If anyone declassified sensitive documents, not only would he/she have mishandled them, he/she would basically be enabling anyone else to mishandle them as well.

Declassifying them makes it WORSE, NOT BETTER!

Status: offline 		Or the documents didn't need to be classified in the first place. Or the time where the info was a government secret is over, cuz the press ran a story saying the same thing. Without reading a document, it's impossible to make a judgment about it.

But it doesn't matter what the docs say, or are about. All that matters is intent. And really who packed up the docs, from where. The VP isn't mishandling classified materials by reading them in their White House Office. The docs get mishandled when they're packed up to make room for the next VP.

The Espionage Act only comes into play if national security secrets get leaked to a foreign nation. When Biden was the only VP with classified docs, that was a serious possibility. But now Pence has discovered some too, so it's a lot less likely.

But we still don't know what any of the docs are related to. The DOJ will investigate and decide what charges, if any, to take to court.

Congress needs to make a law concerning classified docs and how the White House gets packed up when it's time for transition. ,

First of all, this is not exactly true. It comes into play when the documents are acquired, and for what purpose.

Secondly, my reference to the Espionage Act was erroneous. I actually meant the Atomic Energy Act.

Status: offline 		Documents given to the VP in the White House are pretty secure. The purpose would be national security, supposedly. Or at least that's what an attorney would argue in court, and a jury would believe, and that may even be the truth. Either way, the DOJ would know they couldn't make that charge stick, so they wouldn't even make that charge. Against Pence or Biden.

But they both mishandled classified docs by allowing others to access them. The movers need to be looked into, and VPs need to clean their offices more thoroughly.

Can either Pence or Biden be charged? Maybe. Will either be charged? Not likely.

It still doesn't make Trump look any better.
