College Students Disrupt ‘Free Speech’ Event With Chants, Stolen Pizza And A Conga Line

Students at the University of Albany in New York shouted down conservative speaker Ian Haworth to prevent his talk on “Free Speech on Campus” from beginning, videos posted on social media show.
Haworth was eventually able to deliver his speech when the event was moved to a separate venue with more “controlled access,” a university spokesperson told the Daily Caller News Foundation.
“Ultimately, my conclusion was simple: college should be a place where free speech flourishes. Instead, it’s where free speech goes to die, and these protesters proved my point,” Haworth told the DCNF.

Damn hippies!!!!

It's hard to name anything that "Democrats" <spit> hate more than free speech, and the free exchange of thoughts and ideas.

Oh boy...

A target rich environment to be sure.

Let's start in Florida! Shall we? Keep in mind, these are REPUBLICAN ideas (whether or not they are tied to DeSantis)

The Reedy Creek cancellation (Pure revenge legislation for Disney criticizing his "Don't Say Gay" bill ) I acknowledge the left mischaracterized the bill, but Disney simply offered an opinion.

Let's listen to Republican darling Ben Shapiro's take on DeSantis' destroying Free Speech
quote:

I am the most free market person on the right. I’m an extraordinarily pro free market person. I don’t believe that generally the government should crack down on the operations of businesses. I think more freedom for businesses are good. [sic] I think that lower taxes for businesses are good, for the economy of Florida, for the company, for the economy of the United States more broadly. However, however, [sic] corporations have to stand up for their own free market bona fides, and they have to not become tools of the people who wish to destroy freedom in this country on behalf of leftist groupthink. If you decide to just become a woke corporation that does the bidding of your Democratic taskmasters, don’t be surprised when you get clocked with a legislative two-by-four. F around and find out. And that’s what Disney did.

The Florida blogger registration bill, requiring bloggers who write about the state government register and be approved by the state government
The Florida bill requiring protestors at the capitol to be "Aligned with state government's mission" in order to be permitted to protest
The Florida menstrual period bill banning pre-teens from discussing their menstrual periods
The barring of three U of Florida professors from testifying in a voting rights case
The Florida Book Bans from libraries - Which DeSantis is disguising as " because they are “pornographic, violent or inappropriate.” - Except Hank Aaron and Roberto Clemente's biographies have been banned along with Toni Morrison's "The Bluest Eye" and hundreds of other books

Similar Republican censorship in Virginia, Texas, Iowa, and Wisconsin and the dozens of other GOP "Stop Woke initiatives, designed not only to censor, truly pornagraphic or violent material, but ANY material which doesn't align with their views.

Oh, while we are in Texas...
Let's recall the forcing of a Biden campaign bus off the road by Trump supporters. The police dispatcher laughed and mocked the driver when he called. Texas REPUBLICAN state government did NOTHING. And Trump cheered it on at his next rally. So, in Texas Biden and his supporters are not entitled to express their views in a rally, and are not protected by Texas state law.

You should. As everything I ever post here is well researched and 100% fact based.

OR... Do your own research for a change.

Everything I said is well documented and known. They are all facts. Doznes of sources on Reedy Creek. Go to Ben Shapiro's OWN Facebook page for his words on it.
Look at the Florida Senate and Assembly pages for all the bills I mentioned. They are all in the public record.
Dozens of sources on Republican book banning.
Google the U of FLorida professors.
The Biden bus issue was well documented when it happned. Trump is on video mocking the bus driver to cheers from his supporters at his rally.

Think what you are told to think. Questions are subversive.

quote:

‘They Make Me Vomit’: Jaws Star Richard Dreyfuss Blasts New Oscars Diversity Rules

Hollywood star Richard Dreyfuss, an Academy Award–winning actor best known for his role in the Jaws, said in an interview that the new diversity rules imposed by the Oscars for films to be eligible for the “Best Picture” award “make me vomit.”

“They make me vomit,” Dreyfuss told Margaret Hoover on Firing Line which aired Friday night on PBS. “This is an art form. No one should be telling me as an artist that I have to give in to the latest, most current idea of what morality is.”

New policies enacted by the Oscars in 2024 will see film award eligibility dependent upon meeting two of four stipulated diversity benchmarks. One, for instance, mandates a third of a movie cast must be comprised of “an underrepresented group.”

“It’s finding the right balance. So, we want rules that make sense, that keep people kind of on your toes about it, but not telling people what to make,” the film producer and Academy President Janet Yang told Sky News in March.

Still, Yang maintained that the proposed equity measures would not disqualify any previous nomination which dates as far back as 1929. “We did find that, given these new guidelines all the past nominations would still qualify.”

During the conversation, Dreyfuss praised Laurence Olivier’s performance of “Othello” performed in blackface in 1965. “Am I being told that I will never have a chance to play a Black man?” Dreyfuss asked rhetorically. “Are we crazy? Do we not know that art is art?”

Hoover pushed Dreyfuss, challenging him to clarify whether people of another race should be allowed to represent groups they do not belong to.

“Do you think there’s a difference between the question of…who is allowed to represent other groups…and the case of blackface explicitly in this country given the history of slavery and the sensitivities around Black racism?” the journalist followed up.

“There shouldn’t be,” Dreyfus responded. “Because it’s patronizing.”

The actor also discussed his decades-long commitment to improving civics education. In 2006, the star created the Dreyfuss Civics Initiative aimed at revitalizing national awareness of government and politics.

“I think we’re in the endgame right now,” he told PBS. “We could let slip the greatest idea for governance ever devised, and we won’t even know that it happened.”

“I still can’t really wrap my head around the fact that people confuse being exposed to an opposing view on any subject with being a traitor or with being a subversive.”

Dreyfus is 100% correct.

JVoV -> RE: The Woke Mind Virus (5/7/2023 3:55:47 PM)

Well, Dreyfuss is right that there shouldn't be rules on art, and artistic forms. A government isn't of or for the people when it controls which art is acceptable.

Of course, the Academy Awards isn't run by the US government. Ted Cruz didn't have to give the Best Picture award to Call Me By Your Name. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences is a private entity, and the new diversity rules are well within the laws of the United States, so I don't see an actual issue.

Dreyfuss could make an entire one man show movie in blackface and I don't think the government would care. That doesn't mean the movie would be any good, or make any money. It certainly doesn't mean it deserves to be recognized as 'best' anything.

I don't see the Academy's diversity rules as a groundbreaking achievement for human rights. That would have been these rules 70+ years ago. Now, it's just more perfmative bs to look "woke".

And I think that's the main problem with all of this "woke" bs. Appearances. It's more important to not LOOK like you discriminate against people, rather than actually discriminating against people. And people are wrongly accused of discrimination or prejudice every day, which makes it that much harder to prove when it actually does happen.

And as someone that has faced discrimination for things completely out of my control, and hateful prejudice from unexpected sources, I know that there is a massive difference. And nobody should ever feel so completely helpless when they're at the mercy of others, because we are supposed to be a hell of a lot better than we are as a country. Trump's legacy is the reality check so many of us have had to face, on so many issues. And dammit.
