ORIGINAL: MasterJaguar01 Except that Republicans hate free speech even more. You could give us a long list of examples, except you're a liar. Oh boy... A target rich environment to be sure. Let's start in Florida! Shall we? Keep in mind, these are REPUBLICAN ideas (whether or not they are tied to DeSantis) The Reedy Creek cancellation (Pure revenge legislation for Disney criticizing his "Don't Say Gay" bill ) I acknowledge the left mischaracterized the bill, but Disney simply offered an opinion. Let's listen to Republican darling Ben Shapiro's take on DeSantis' destroying Free Speech quote:
I am the most free market person on the right. I’m an extraordinarily pro free market person. I don’t believe that generally the government should crack down on the operations of businesses. I think more freedom for businesses are good. [sic] I think that lower taxes for businesses are good, for the economy of Florida, for the company, for the economy of the United States more broadly. However, however, [sic] corporations have to stand up for their own free market bona fides, and they have to not become tools of the people who wish to destroy freedom in this country on behalf of leftist groupthink. If you decide to just become a woke corporation that does the bidding of your Democratic taskmasters, don’t be surprised when you get clocked with a legislative two-by-four. F around and find out. And that’s what Disney did. The Florida blogger registration bill, requiring bloggers who write about the state government register and be approved by the state government The Florida bill requiring protestors at the capitol to be "Aligned with state government's mission" in order to be permitted to protest The Florida menstrual period bill banning pre-teens from discussing their menstrual periods The barring of three U of Florida professors from testifying in a voting rights case The Florida Book Bans from libraries - Which DeSantis is disguising as " because they are “pornographic, violent or inappropriate.” - Except Hank Aaron and Roberto Clemente's biographies have been banned along with Toni Morrison's "The Bluest Eye" and hundreds of other books Similar Republican censorship in Virginia, Texas, Iowa, and Wisconsin and the dozens of other GOP "Stop Woke initiatives, designed not only to censor, truly pornagraphic or violent material, but ANY material which doesn't align with their views. Oh, while we are in Texas... Let's recall the forcing of a Biden campaign bus off the road by Trump supporters. The police dispatcher laughed and mocked the driver when he called. Texas REPUBLICAN state government did NOTHING. And Trump cheered it on at his next rally. So, in Texas Biden and his supporters are not entitled to express their views in a rally, and are not protected by Texas state law.
