There used to be spirited debate about political issues that are significant in our world. I enjoyed the debate very much and learned a lot from others on this board and I hope and believe that they learned from me as well.

I was thrilled to see the forums return and hoped to have the spirited debate we used to have.

Sadly, there is no more debate. No discussion. Every post (whether or not it is a new thread) is responded to by an off-topic "FR"

There is no discussion of the points made in the previous post. Therefore no honest discussion of anything. Why write a well-researched point-by-point post, if the only response will be an unrelated "FR" quoting what is trending on twitter?

It is sad to see what this forum has become. I will keep monitoring for contributors to join the discussion who actually WANT political discussion, rather than to ignore completely what has been posted, only to quote some random tweet on twitter.

I know I have said it before, but I am done, until we get better contributors. I will keep checking!

No, I get your point, MJ. It sucks. And Bosco has only gotten worse these last few days.

The political section of the forum was fairly heated before the forums shut down, but there were a lot more people here. I don't know how to contact any of those members to even try to bring them back. But that's all I can think of that may work, until we get new blood around here.

But other than that, just keep swimming. Just keep swimming. Do what you would normally do. Respond - even to those FRs - as you normally would. Because that IS the response, even if that's the form it takes. We don't have to change how we are just because someone else chooses to be childish.

I keep doing my normal with the FRs. Sometimes, they just give you the other side's talking points, but those can be very revealing, and reinforce our own takes. I'm waiting for one to just totally blow me away. To the point I question all of my political views entirely. It's not likely to happen though.

You miss my entire point. My point has nothing to do with the divisiveness in politics, or it being tit for tat.

That has been the case for decades.

My point is that there is no discussion on this forum.

BoscoX has been blocking our posts from his own view, and just filling up the threads with his own opinion, with no regard for our posts, whether they are new, or a response to his. It is like a 12 year old brat, putting her hands over her ears and sticking her tongue out.

I am here for political discussion and debate, not an exasperating interaction with a child.
