Yup. This place blows. We had 3 people involved in the politics section and I'm ready to give up. Lack of moderation is the real issue, or at least I haven't seen any moderation on the forum since its return. Bosco wasn't exactly a delight before, but now....
Oh well, I tried. Fuck it. I need an outlet to discuss politics, and I don't want to be in a bubble. I need the input of other people, I need to know what's going on in the world, and I need to know what the other side is saying. But politics has just gotten mean these last few years. There's a difference between expressing a difference of opinion and labeling people bad for opinions that don't match yours. But people are either being more extreme in their hatred, more extreme in their provocation, or just more stupid than ever. Like that white lady that called 911 because a black dude shoveled the snow. Her behavior was bad. But the guy laughing at her, and egging it on was not helping either. Mostly, the lady was just stupid for her behavior knowing she was on camera.
Since all we know is what's on that video, I can't form a real opinion about either person involved, only the behavior I see. But people choose to create backstories and add their uninformed opinions. I have far too many questions still, and the only answer is maybe.
But I can form opinions about people here, based on their comments about the situation. That opinion is whether or not I can deal with those people, whether I want to even bother making a comment, and if so, what that post should be. My politics generally don't change, unless I get new information to make that happen. Sometimes, there is relevant history that I either don't know or don't think about, and sometimes people type out the history of the world to make their point and nothing I find relevant. Just a lot of words. But you can't beat sense into people, and there are laws against actually beating random people. Plus I'm kinda lazy and they just aren't worth the effort of stalking to know where they're at to beat them anyway. So fuck em. I limit myself to stalking people I care about. After they tell me where they'll be.
