This one is hilarious. I watched this live on Tucker Carlson Tonight (I am a BIG FAN!). I had never heard of Douglass Mackey, so this story was interesting. Just by the way Tucker had set it up, I knew there was far more to the story than Tucker telling his viewers, and that basically, Tucker does what Tucker does.... LIE

Douglass Mackey is not going to prison for posting a meme mocking Hillary Clinton, as the LIE Tucker told on his show.

This is an old Republican playbook used all the way back to George HW Bush (and probably before). They know the only way for Republicans to win the national popular vote is for democrats to NOT vote. The fraud schemes happen every 4 years. Kudos to the DOJ for FINALLY prosecuting one!

Social Media Influencer Douglass Mackey Convicted of Election Interference in 2016 Presidential Race

His entire block was a complete LIE.
First of all, he was caught on social media emphasizing the need to reduce black voter turnout. (Not a crime to SAY that, but just to be clear on his stated motive)

He did the following:
He tweeted an image depicting an African American woman standing in front of an “African Americans for Hillary” sign. The ad stated: “Avoid the Line. Vote from Home,” “Text ‘Hillary’ to 59925,” and “Vote for Hillary and be a part of history.” The fine print at the bottom of the deceptive image stated: “Must be 18 or older to vote. One vote per person. Must be a legal citizen of the United States. Voting by text not available in Guam, Puerto Rico, Alaska or Hawaii. Paid for by Hillary For President 2016.” The tweet included the typed hashtag “#ImWithHer,” a slogan frequently used by Hillary Clinton. On or about and before Election Day 2016, at least 4,900 unique telephone numbers texted “Hillary” or some derivative to the 59925 text number, which had been used in multiple deceptive campaign images tweeted by Mackey and his co-conspirators.

He tweeted an image depicting a woman seated at a conference room typing a message on her cell phone. This deceptive image was written in Spanish and mimicked a font used by the Clinton campaign in authentic ads. The image also included a copy of the Clinton campaign’s logo and the “ImWithHer” hashtag.

He was obviously fraudulently trying to deceive voters likely to vote for a democrat into voting illegitimately, and therefore not at all. It's a felony. And he got caught.

A slight detail. The Federal prosecutor who sucessfully prosecuted Michael Cohen identified Trump in the very same indictment, and was going to pursue a case against him, until Bill Barr shiut him down at Trump's request.

Barr's actions were extremely corrupt and not even close to being appropriate. He is supposed to be "WE THE PEOPLE's attorney. Instead Trump ordered him to be Trump's lawyer. Remember the "Where's my Roy Cohn?" statement?

He not only intervened in several cases against Trump and his cronies....

In this case... He ordered the prosecutor to SCRUB the indictment of most the comments about Trump. Then after COhen was successfully prosecuted and CONVICTED (so we know it is a legitimate case, by the FACTS!!!! The FACTS Not politics. This is a JURY that found him guilty) Trump was STILL idenitified as a co-conspirator on the SAME facts.

All of your nonsense about politics and deep state is 100% irrelevant. An impartial jury vetted by BOTH sides found Michael Cohen guilty and would have found Trump guilty on the SAME facts if he had been indicted.
These jurors are not part of any deep state.

This was a legitimate case, as evidenced by the fact that a jury, based on the FACTS of the case, unanimously delivered a GUILTY verdict, and Berman wanted to pursue Trump on the SAME facts and was shut down and fired.

Appropriate? Not even close.

ANd BTW: Michael Cohen says he was not "persecuted" (not being part of the whining "cry baby" party). He admits his guilt, and identifes his crimes were directed by and for the benefit of Trump.

You can take that back to your sad clown friends and have a pity party.

First of all...Cohen already admitted lying and went to jail for it.
Secondly, neither you nor I have any idea what evidence is out there and therefore have no idea on what the trial hinges.
Thirdly, the only weaponization is from Trump and Barr

Independent journalist Matt Taibbi sparred with MSNBC’s Mehdi Hasan on Thursday over the Twitter Files and Hunter Biden’s laptop.

Hasan questioned Taibbi’s recent appearance before Congress, where he refused to reveal his sources despite Democratic Texas Rep. Sylvia Garcia repeatedly demanding answers.

Hasan then played a clip from Taibbi’s 2021 appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience where he said that as a journalist, once you start getting handed stories, it’s a bad line to have crossed.

“The hilarity of this coming from MSNBC which did nothing but vomit up fake Russian hit stories that came straight from the FBI for six consecutive years, you guys still haven’t apologized for it.”

“I wasn’t there in that period so I’ve got nothing to apologize for,” Hasan said. “I’m asking you your words, did you cross a line? It’s a very simple question, you can ‘what about’ and deflect, it’s a simple question, we played a clip for you, I’m giving you a chance to answer. Did you cross the line, your words?”

“No I did not,” Taibbi said. “The stories are self-contained stories that hold up in themselves and what I was talking about in the Joe Rogan story, I was quoting a passage from Seymour Hirsch’s book ‘Reporter’ when he was talking about when he was given a story by the CIA about an Israeli spy that they had caught and he was saying something to the effect of I who had always gotten the material, was being handed the material. So yeah, look, it sounds bad, but this stuff is clearly in the public interest, it’s real, it’s true and I’m doing the best I can to report it.”

Hasan then alleged Republicans are threatening the press and books, with Taibbi arguing that Democrats are more of a threat to free speech than Republicans.
