Citizens United, (https://www.citizensunited.org/), an efficient right wing propaganda machine wanted to make and promote an anti Hilary Clinton movie (which they did: Hilary TheMovie. You can buy it for $2.99 on their website) DURING the election in which she was a candidate.

Campaign Finance Laws made that illegal. The idea was to keep wealthy donors from forming a group, taking over the media, and interfering with an election.

If Hilary were not a candidate, no one would have challenged them at all!!!! They have free speech! They have and continue to churn out right wing propaganda by the dozens. Look at their catalog!

We all remember 2000 mules? The stupid propaganda film that tried to prove fraud with cell phone GPS data. Free Speech! Go to a Trump rally and ask each person there if they have seen that movie AND believe that it is factual!!!! It is amazing how gullible these people are.

So sorry.... NOT a free speech issue.

The Supreme Court not only took the case, but ruled more broadly, that there would be no limit on corporations or groups (now called Super PACS) that can pour money into an election in order to influence it. So instead of elections being a competition of ideas, it is a competition of whomever has more wealthy donors and the most insanely gullible voter base.

What's worse... is Citizens United, (the non profit grifters as they are) continue to violate 501c rules. Even if they are 501(c4)

In case you did not know. It is your taxpayer money that partially FUNDS this stuff!

Anyone who donates money to them writes it off their AGI as a "charitable" donation. Lois Lerner was trying to stop this grift before she was thrown out and accused of censoring...

There is no proof of her intent. You made that up. If she had some liberal agenda, why did she target liberal groups who were abusing the 501c4 rules?
Ohhhh because you never knew she did that. Why? Because that doesn't fit your cult's narrative, so therefore it was left out of your pre-programmed news feed. (Also note, it was left out of that hugely partisan propaganda "timeline" from the Ways and Means Committee.)

She never silenced anyone. She was trying to adjust their tax status to what it should be.

By your definition of having "everything to do with speech", then yes. If you want tax exempt status, then you have to behave like a tax exempt organization. Political advocacy CANNOT be your main mission. You are free to say whatever you want, but not at taxpayer expense.
