President Biden has commuted the sentences of 87 death row inmates to life sentences.

I'm not against the death penalty, but I understand the moral arguments against it. Especially the religious arguments against it. So I think it's pretty cool that a Catholic president would make.tjos decision.

I'm not sure the families of any of the victims.would agree. I haven't looked into the specifics of any of the cases to know if I even agree with their sentences being vommuted. I'm sure if I looked at the details I'd be howling "that bastard deserves to die".

I wouldn't have commuted their sentences, but I'm not Catholic and old AF.

I wonder what else is on Biden's bucket list?

And can an Executive Order actually say "no take backs" m, like kids do? That's a legal question to ponder, I suppose.

He declined to commute the sentences for two, proving that he doesn't think that the death penalty is wrong or immoral - just that he thinks of himself as a god, that is above the law.

It was 37 commuted sentences, not 87 as I said earlier. Dunno where I got that number.

So 3 inmates didn't get a commutation. Those 3 were convicted of terrorism or hate crimes. Commuting their sentences would have been much harder to justify and sell to the American public.

I don't see this as a negative against Biden, or the Democrats.

It's a thing, we can move on. I'm sure there are more important things to get mad about.

It's not like they'll be roaming the streets free. They just have life sentences now instead of death sentences.

I don't see this as such a big deal for you to hurl.pwrsonal attacks. Again. I didn't do it. Probably wouldn't have done it as President. But it's done now, so howling won't help.

With the pardons Trump has already promised, I don't have a problem with Biden doing a few things while he has the power. He'll.provabky pardon himself as his last official act, just cuz.

My opinion on the matter: yeah ok, not that big a deal. Dies not impact my life in the least. Nothing funny, nothing cringe-worthy. It's a thing that happened.


Biden had already called for a moratorium on federal executions anyway, pending legislation which never happened. Trump will have to reverse that moratorium and allow executions to begin again.

The National Archives illegally refused FOIA requests for these files and photographs, and only just released them after a lawsuit and AFTER the elections - and the CIA-controlled corporate media refuses to report the facts AS ALWAYS in cases like this

I don't consider myself far-left on most issues. Some, sure. And some things I'd be conservative on. But in most things, I'm moderate and rational.
You have chosen to take a stance that is completely opposite of the Freedom Project, form whatever reason..I just don't see this story as that big a deal.

I would agree that Garland dragged his heels on Trump too much. But so did other prosecutors. That's why Trump only has 37 felony convictions.

I'm actually ok with the pardons, because it will mean we can focus on something else instead.

He should have commuted them all but didn't with 3 of them. Bad optics?

Unlike you American's most of the world is civilized and we don't call for nor expect the death penalty on our human scum.

Does China execute more than America?

The 3 inmates remaining on federal death row are Robert Bowers, Dylann Roof, and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

Bowers was convicted of killing his 2yo daughter, but Google says he may get a new trial cuz science stuff.

Dylan Roof gunned down parisheners attending Bible Study in South Carolina.

And that last one (that I'm not even gonna try to spell) was one of the Boston bombers.

I'm ok with Roof and the Boston guy getting juiced.

I'm going back to this Livestream on TikTok. This lady just said "Trump opened Panera's box". She seems mad about the DEI stuff.

Which is against the protections established in the Constitution. That's happening now. ICE os required to have a judicial warrant to enter private areas.

Raids can and should be done legally, like any other law enforcement activity. But they aren't. Mango Moussilini isn't a judge and cannot issue fiducial warrants. Any ICE officer that performs the assigned duties of their jobs illegally opens themselves and the agency up to legal actions.
