The people are in charge of the CIA again, and Biden's forever-war-for-profit in Ukraine will soon be over, one way or another;

I would expect all government agencies to present proposals from the mundane to the terrible, in the event of needing them. It's always the president's choice on what to do, thought the Joint Chiefs do advise him as best they can.

But please, go on abot other things that didn't happen in the 60s.

I believe there is a lot more shady shit to be discovered about the CIA. Most "black ops" wouldn't have public support, but TPTB feel it needs to be done, so it gets done.

Sometimes it's "hey, we killed Bin Laden" and sometimes it's Iran-Contra. It still gets done without public knowledge. By both parties.

I would be disappointed in any presidency that didn't have a plan to invade any country on Earth, or to defend it from invasion, just in case. Our elected 043sirentnshoulr only use such plans when that need arises though, using diplomacy when possible to make sure it won't be. But sometimes it just isn't our choice.

All this time, I thought War for oil was a Bush thing. Both Bushes, actually.

I don't think we'll be getting an Oliver Stone movie out of the Trump assassination attempt. I have my own thoughts of that day and I'm sure some fault could be found in the campaign or even with Trump himself, but no doubt that the Secret Service totally fucked up that day.

This confuses.me.on do many levels. Russia started the war, yet Trump is meeting with Putin to negotiate a peace deal that Ukraine has already said they won't abide by. Cuz why should they?

I completely agree that Trump has the authority to stop sending Ukraine any financial or military support and let themis eat play out as it will, but to side with the aggressor isn't a good look.

But I'll tell you this much, your first mistake is believing that the news is real. The news is NOT real - it's all psyops and propaganda

On the ground in Ukraine, and in Moscow, and in Washington, there are many layers to what is happening. Basically, there is a thing called realpolitik that has to be considered. No one in their right fucking mind wants endless war, but leaders are often forced to say and do things to maintain their personal power or to save face. In other words, the war can never end unless someone steps up and makes a bold and risky play. Risks political capital.

Zelensky can't go to his people and say, we're giving Russia Crimea and Donbas in exchange for peace, after he promised his people he would win all of that back. Putin can't tell his people he spent all the blood and treasure he did for nothing.

But if Trump plays the bad cop, Zelensky can go to his people and say, "The Americans are forcing me to take this deal" and Putin can tell his people that he forced America to the table, and then it's settled, and the killing stops.

Wars need an off ramp, and Biden only wanted on-ramps to WW III - he refused to negotiate, resulting in endless deaths and suffering

Another layer is that the war is 100% a European war, and we are $37 trillion in debt. Why is this our war? A few years back Democrats swore that we shouldn't be the world's cop, so what changed.

Also, President Trump's position has caused European leaders to come together and begin to take responsibility - FINALLY

I feel like if anyone could have pointed the finger at the US for any of this, they would have done it by now and since your post there is the first I've seen about the CIA being involved, it's hard for me to believe.

I do believe that this war has gone on far too long and that Biden was supporting Ukraine just enough to keep hope alive, with European countries doing nowhere near enough. I also believe that Putin would rather launch nukes than to admit defeat. And we can't have that.

I feel like Trump has had a term in office and should have built trust among our European allies, but that doesn't seem to be the case. And he doesn't seem to be trying to build that trust now, either with actions or comments.

I don't believe Trump's interference will ultimately be good for the US. I don't believe we have to worry about being dragged into WW3, but our economy and standing in the world will take a massive hit.

That fact that we have such a massive national debt doesn't seem to deter Republicans from trying to give even more tax breaks to the wealthy. I feel like any period of austerity should start with ending such tax cuts, not pushing for more.

But aiding Ukraine didn't put us into debt. And that isn't something Trump care about anyway, given his track record.

I'm hate that it's come to this, but I believe European leaders are doing the right thing. Considering the "perfect" phone call Trump had with Him Ukraine during his first term, I have no faith in his concern for the country at all.

My problem with the call wasn't that Trump wanted Ukraine to investigate matters, but that Trump threatened to withhold funds if that didn't happen. That made it extortion. We can agree that no Republicans voted to impeach Trump for that. I'm not sure that means what you think it does though. Anyway, I never mentioned the impeachment here, just the call itself. That actually happened. I've heard it and I am quite capable of forming an opinion of my own on the matter. Republicans in Congress could have cited on impeaching Biden when they had control of the House. That didn't actually happen. Just a bunch of howling about it.

I don't think there's much in question about Trump's stance on Ukraine. I heard that as many as 70% of Americans support Ukraine anyway.

I don't think my opinion matters much, as Trump will do what he wants. Including give inaccurate information about Ukraine whenever it suits him.

How far back do we need to go with this shit for you to prove the Russian talking point you have found today?

I just watched an interesting video tracing the actions of Russia back to Secretary of State James Baker telling Gorbachev that NATO would never expand eastward if Berlin could be reunified.

So much for that, huh? There doesn't seem to be a ratified treaty saying as much though. Just as the Budapest Memorandum, in which the US promised military aid to Ukraine was never ratified.
The reason for Russia's invasion isn't the question. That shouldn't even be a concern to Americans. Our concern should be whether or not to prevent Russia's expansion. For the past 60 years, the answer was "hell yeah".

I'm still of the mind that the US should prevent Russia from expanding. I think that doing so makes us the clear loser of the Cold War.
