From the earliest days when I began exploring dominance, it was a significantly important caveat to me that I always improve. The sentiment is decent in or out of kink but holds water within this community.

If you could improve one thing you do as a dominant, what would it be?

I'll start things off for the uncertain.

I actually left the community years ago. I didn't like the way people and events were trending. Even now, I'm only back out of a casual curiosity, and the urge to make a positive contribution. However, of all things things I did, and didn't, do, if I were to work one one area before anything else, it would be the one thing I personally value most:

Communication.

While it's nonsensical to think it's possible to make others simply fall in line (and if they do, beware), you can and should above all things control yourself. My personal experience (yes, this is merely an opinion) is that you can never put enough effort into the communication that a kink relationship requires, even if that's just a FWB situation. There are always limits to consider, borders to explore, and if such is your interest, ideas to share as a partner outside of sex. I would want to do my utmost to be on the same page with anyone I become involved with, kinky or not. Ask. Trust. Act on what is agreed upon. Pay attention to that and see what is working, as well as what doesn't. Keep things open and appreciate that they change. That's the core tenets of what I discovered in my time, and I would stick to that. It's possible someone may not communicate effectively, which is not the same as lying (but some lie, usually to appeal or appease). No matter how well the communication goes, I'd still strive to improve it, because to my way of thinking, that determines the quality of your connection, and I'm old-fashioned enough to prefer quality over quantity.

How about the rest of you? Perhaps there's a skill you want to improve or learn. It could be physical, emotional, mental.
