Let me be your interpreter here.
Schumer got enough Senate Dems to voted with Republicans on the "CR". Yes, many Dems are against that decision, but I think Schumer went with the lesser evil, since neither option was good or would in any way be shaped by Democrats.
The budget resolution was a craptastic bill. The alternative would have been to let the government shut down.
If the government shuts down, Trump would be the one to decide what's essential and should continue to be funded. That's not what Dems want.
What the polls are showing right now is how voters feel about the opposition party actually being opposing and not just giving the ruling party whatever they want. Considering this isn't an election year, I'm not overly concerned.
Yes, Schumer is much more moderate than AOC, Bernie Sanders, Jasmine Crockett, and so many others. He's playing the game with the hand that has been dealt to him though.
The Republicans control the House, Senate, and White House. There is very little that Dems can do in the political arena these days, aside from waiting for the GOP to make a mistake so that they can take advantage of it.
National polls are kinda useless for state and local officials though. At best, it would be a measure of favorability amongst the party leadership.
It's the Republicans that couldn't get their shit together to pass a real budget. I doubt they even want to. They have just enough control to not bother negotiating with Dems, but not quite enough control to do it all without a handful of Dems to voted with them. I expect a few more hostage situations from the GOP in the next two years.
They aren't interested in running the country, they just want to make sure Dems can't do it.
