Now I understand why it's been difficult to type the last year. I understand why i lost my sense of smell 7 years ago. I understand why I freeze when i am walking and turn to a different direction and why right hand shakes. It's a bummer. But the good thing is that I've started on meds. It'll be another couple weeks as I gradually work up to full dose of the meds but it's working already. Doc even thinks that issue I've been having with my right foot is caused by Parkinsons.

I'm already 74 so i expect that Parkinson's probably won't kill me. I am just so pleased that my life is more normal today than it was a week ago. It's such a relief to take a medication that makes so much difference.

I guess I'm writing this in case someone who is reading it has similar symptoms. First was the loss of the sense of smell. Then right foot hurt. Foot then swelled up and was infected but never completely recovered. Then tremors in just the thumb before traveling to whole hand. Until doc told me I didn't realize that i don't swing my right arm when i walk. The symptom that has bothered me the most is freezing for a moment when i change directions while walking. Makes me feel off balance.

Anyway bad news is that I have a nasty disease. Good news is there are some great drugs that help.

Yes, I am crazy about feathered creatures. I have a dozen chickens, 3 ducks, 5 geese, and 2 parakeets.

Revise that number. Just got 14 new chicks and 5 turkeys.

Health issues aren't fun
I am legally blind now, retina detachments and cataracts in both eyes and glaucoma in the left one. Which is the 'good' eye. I'm supposed to have cataract surgery on the right eye later this month. Just did the measurements last week. ..

Apparently, they can use sonogram to measure cataracts now. So they put that cold goop on my eyelid and jammed that thing on there so you can see the baby's heartbeat or whatever.

My eye was t pregnant though. That's a relief. I think what cane next was against the Geneva Convention, but apparently that doesn't apply to medicine now. I think they water iarded my eye.

I hope the meds give you some relief from the symptoms! It's scary, but always good to actually get a diagnosis so you can start dealing with what's really going on.

I'm only blind in one eye. Had cataract surgery done on the good one a couple years ago. It was a huge improvement with seeing. I refused to have surgery on the bad eye. Cataract surgery wasn't going to do a thing for it.

The medication I am on has made a huge difference also. I can do things again. I can walk in my own yard. I got the mail for the first time since i moved here nearly a year ago. i mopped my floor. Funny to enjoy doing even the mundane things of life.

I bought one of those robot vacuum/mop things, but I'm afraid to put liquid in it for it to mop. I only paid $20 for it and it has no damn sense at all.

Kinda acts like me. WOm waiting for it to say "why the hell did I come in here"?
