I am very, very fortunate.  I live in the best country of the world, in the best province of that country.  I have been blessed (no matter what type of losses I have suffered) and I am eternally grateful for being here.  The Prime Minister elect was not My choice, I did not vote for him, but I am confident that he is going to do the best job he possibly can and that he is infinitely better qualified for it than I am.

i read ur posts. on the one hand i see your point.

curruption and greed is alive and well-

the rants are a frustration, as it seems tradition of people governing and public good are out the window.

we fear our current quality of life will erode.

so the question is what can one man do?  think of the man in tienemen square holding up the row of tanks.

to the ranters- express yourself. i applaud that. when we cant dont or wont campare notes- is when they got us.

it isnt enuff to simply have a bad day over the mess. write congress. knock on doors. vote.

at to him making his own bed- yes and no.  we arent too diff from russia when the peasants and robber barons were the day.

Interesting thread to someone from the UK.
Two points......
(1) To those who believe that political destiny is in hands of the electorate; have you never heard the joke that if voting changed anything it would be made illegal. Though it seems to me that in the US you do have more input than here in the UK.see Propositions that may be voted on and especially that Sheriff in Arizona who incarcerates the crims. in tents out in the desert. I love 'im.I believe he is elected.
(2) Are welfare payments really so generous in the US. I doubt it some how. In the UK couples with 4/5 kids and not working quite literally live to a very high standard.

welfare payments are not very much here, and in some (all?) states, they have abolished welfare and now use tanf which is even less. most of the benefit of welfare comes in the form of food stamps (usually around $300/mo. for one woman and two small children) and health care (which medicaid swears i don't qualify for even though i have next to no income).

One man by himself can accomplish amazing things if he uses initiative to get off his ass and go make a difference.  Look no further than Martin Luther King for an example, who should be an inspiration to all.

You can sit there feeling sorry for yourself and complaining that you are just one man, or, you can look to the past to all the "one man"'s before you.
