I am looking for a reputable place either online or in the state of Maine to do a background check on a prospect. It needs to be affordable of course and preferably something you have experience with and trust in. Thanks!

Ummm.... to my knowledge, you can request that information from your local police department, and as far as I know, the police department does the checks too... for something like 20$

I often use www.zabasearch.com and www.intelius.com to verify the addresses and ages prospective subs provide to Me. That information is available for free. Recently met one who claimed to be 35, but I checked Intelius and found out that he is really 50 (and looks it, too).

Intelius provides a very comprehensive background check for $49.95. I have not used it personally, but know someone who did. It uncovered that the man she was dating had a female roommate that he had neglected to tell her about. To say that he was in hot water was an understatement.

However, I would definitely check into the background checks Mistress Texas mentioned that are offered by local police departments for around $20. That sounds like a better deal.

Not all PDs will do backgrounds, and, you need to have a legitimate reason for doing it for most departments (child care, employment.)

I see that background checks are also available at www.peoplefinders.com for $39.95, but don't know of anyone who has used them.

Courthouse, credit bureau, police department. Actually, you are the Domme.......he should get this information for you, ja? Check it against his drivers license, and say ok, you are who you say you are, now you will see that I am who I say I am, as the whip draws forth...........

I do believe you're mistaken. Police departments, if we've forgotten, are supposed to be handling CRIMES. Background checks are a civil matter. Most departments will tell you flat out that you need to talk to someone else, and who that might be will depend on who you talk to at the PD. Most Desk Sgts will send you pissing up a rope. Most admin type civilian people might actually give you correct information based on your local resources.

She's specifically looking for someone that does PI work or independent investigations. Someone LICENSED who does skip trace work, adoption investigations and other investigative services is going to be equipped to handle this task. Personally, I'd suggest you start with the Maine Licensed Private Investigators Assn -- http://www.mlpia.org/
