Status: offline 		I've been following with interest the responses to TeeGO's post ("If I were yours?") about what different Dommes would include as part of training of a collared sub.  My follow up, question, if I may, is: what have you found are the most difficult things to train a sub in?  Breaking old habits?  Undertaking chores willingly?  Focusing on your convenience, pleasure, enjoyment, etc.?  Physical response?

I'd be interested to hear whether there are common threads, or whether the experience is completely different and individualized.

Michael,
I don't think you will be difficult to train. I think that once you find your Mistress, you will be a very different person. You are like a peice of coal that just needs the right person to shine you into a diamond.

Status: offline 		The most difficult thing I have found to train in the people I choose to train is their right to voice their own desires and to use their safewords.

A lot of what I think of as naturally submissive and service focused folks seem to have difficulty do both. They think it makes them 'less' -- it is still something that Fox himself can struggle with from time to time even as we approach our 7th year together.

I try to train them to think of the safewords and the voicing of desires as information they owe me since I have agreed to train them (or own them later on). As with most things, it takes a lot of positive feedback and practice.

Status: offline 		Voice training is perhaps the most difficult thing I've found.
 
A person (depending on their motivation) can learn to choose their words carefully, but quite often the TONE and volume of voice used is as demonstrative as the words chosen.
 
If I ask a slave to perform a chore that they don't enjoy, quite often if I hear them sigh softly and sound as if they'd rather do anything but what I want them to do (even subtly), I'd just rather send them on their way and do the chore myself. I'm not Domme because I can't take care of myself without breaking a nail... I'm Domme because that is the most satisfying expression of who I am with a CONSENSUAL life's partner.
 
Humans don't always hear ourselves as others hear us, and slaves sometimes tend to assume we're just being critical as an expression of a fetish when we take issue with their tone of voice.
 
I've heard that some households insist that their slaves never speak above a whisper... that's not a good solution for me. I'm getting a little hard of hearing for one, and I also come from a large, loud, demonstrative family. Volume isn't so much an issue as the undertone or emotion just beneath the surface. So much can be conveyed just by tone of voice... (Sisters, I'm sure you've ALL experienced the "yes Mistress" that sounds identical to the "go to hell Mistress"?)

Status: offline 		Transparency is probably one of the hardest things in my mind to train or condition someone to.  It's the openness of coming and presenting to the owner where one has erred when she has not seen it, or even where one has considered violating a rule or had thoughts that go against what her rules or protocol is.  It is also the compulsion to bring to her thoughts and needs and desires in order to clearly offer to her that which she owns, rather than having to forcibly crowbar or coerce it out of the subject.

After a couple whacks with the long red plastic shoe horn...things get done right.
Whether its putting dishes in the wrong spot or leaving the seat up,that red plastic thingy gets the point across really well.

Actually, what I've found the most difficult is for the submissive to take me literally, to trust that I'm happy with him simply doing exactly as I've asked. They always want to do more, do something even better, anticipate my needs, which is great ...
so long as the submissive has already done *exactly* what I've asked!

I've found the one thing that is untrainable for me is the sub's emotions. I cannot train someone to worship me above all others and self...that must come from themselves.

Being honest is easy because I would never be anything but with Mistress
Staying still is really hard for me (I usually have a lot of energy) Mistress is currently training me to stay still while being punished, she calls me tigger because I am always bouncing around.  We are getting there slowly.
Of course she may say something differrent

1.  Orgasm control, especially in the beginning stages if he's used to masturbating a lot
2.  Realizing I do appreciate a real response to a question asking for his opinion.  (For example, Q:  "Where would you like to eat tonight" A:  "Anywhere Mistress wants".  Duh.  If I had something in mind we'd probably be there already.  Answer the question)
