What the fuck does a seriously stupid thief have to do with the war on terror?

The way I took it for what it's worth. Is the ease at which our ID's can be forged. It's a joke what passes for legal ID in this country, and anyone can just walk in and acquire a fake in days. At least that's my guess as to the link. Really, I think we should have a more advanced form of identification, at least it would be worth something then, or take some skill to copy. That would be needed though whether terrorists existed or not, though.

I don't particularly like the Gvt knowing who i am, or where I live. It can't be avoided, but I am not in favour of any sort of chip-type IDs.

OK, it was a legal id, not forged, stolen, so no skills involved in copying.  Again, I will echo everyone else, wtf?

Edited to add:  I bet this was in the HUMOR column, not the TERRORIST news items...

Shit, we got criminals way stoooopider than that. Not too long ago one of our not best and brightest came into posesion of a stolen credit card (I do not know the person, it was on the news). Being a smart shopper he used the stolen credit card, but then they asked him if he had a Finast discount card, the little barcoded doodad that hangs on your keyring. Well he used his own.

I hope the next person to rip me off has the same courtesy to spend my money wisely :-). And let's not forget the guy who tried to rob a fast food joint and the clerk says "I can't open the drawer unless you place an order". He said something like "OK gimme a burger and fries" and when she informed him that it was too early to get a burger he left. I do not know if this non-Mensa society candidate really said "OK, I'll come back later" or what.

I guess it pays to have a defensive menu.

The unfortunate reality, Arpig, is that the chips are coming.  They have already been developed (I believe it was in Australia).  They are little tiny chips that recharge themselves with changes in the host's body temperature.  Originally they were developed to assist paraplegics by restoring signals past severed or damaged nerve endings, but they can be used to store every pertinent thing about your existence.  It is only a matter of time before they are implemented.  Original talk was that they wanted to do a test run by implanting them in criminals and the like, but it is only a small step from there once the public gets used to the idea.
