I'm sure this topic has come up before but...I had this really strange, wonderful, weird dream last night that seemed to be trying to tell me something about things going on in my life right now.  I'm still trying to flesh out the meaning but it started me wondering about dreams in general and how they sometimes seem to come to you as keys or even cryptic answers during certain times.

I don't mean to get all Freudian here but but do you ever have dreams like this?  Any you might want to share and what it meant to you or how it helped you sort through a challenge in your life?  No, I'm not talking about the XXX variety, lol (although sometimes that is certainly an element).  Just thought it would be interesting to hear from others and whether or not their dreams actually helped them solve a problem or simply pointed them in a direction.

In the last 4 year's I've lived through 4 immediate family members dying.  Three were not necessarily accidental but not expected.  Sudden I guess one could say.  One was cancer...we knew about it for 2 month's before she passed.

In any event it has been a long 4 year's.  I've had a lot on my plate to straighten out.  One could say I know way too much about the law now.
Generally the dreams I remember the fondest are those of the ones who have gone.  I feel they come to me to help me grieve.  To keep themselves alive in my heart.
I've long since tried to decipher them.  I'm just happy to have them.

Dreams are one of those strange wonderfully complex things.  We've never really cemented what they are.  Some say you can tell your future in them (while others of course say its all just meaningless.)  One of the things I read a few years ago that's stuck with me (partly because it was somewhat scientific) was that your dreams are truly your thoughts.  At the end of the day it all "rewinds and gets jumbled."  Then again I've been known to have "visions" (no flaming about this please, although its never been literally documented, which is incredibly hard to do; its something pretty easy to really prove to someone in person) so where would that fit in...

I think they can be a good source of insight... we always have so much going on... conscious and unconscious thoughts.  Sometimes dreams can help up realize what you might not otherwise.  Its all about being open and wanting to improve/learn.  Unfortunately I don't have anything that I can really use as an example...

Like everything in life.. its all about what you want to make it.

Here is a vision for you.  When I was a teenager I used to have dreams of friends.  When something was to happen to them.
My best friend when I was 13...I had a dream about her being operated on...her stomach.  Didn't know what was wrong but I knew it was an emergency surgery.

Two days later, they did exploratory surgery and she needed her appendix out.  At the time of my dream she hadn't even had the first pain yet.

Ah... yeah mine usually aren't anywhere near as dramatic as that, only one was (I saw myself drowning which happened two months later.)

Usually its just trival stuff, bits and pieces of conversations or actions.  Sometimes with people I know or sometimes strangers who I don't meet until months afterwards.

eta: I've been supressing them so I don't get them anywhere near as often; gets iritating after a while...

Carl Yung had some wonderful dream interpretations and well as Freud.

Dreams usually peer into our soul and are often helpful in assisting or sorting out our issues, conflicts, or areas in which we need growth.

Exactly why my submissive and my puppy have to keep dream journals for me. They both aren't thrilled about it though. [:D]

Exactly why I need a Dominant!  *smile*

I think a dream journal is a great idea, at least for those more 'meaningful' dreams we have.
