i am looking for a source for spring steel. i want to use it as a flexible stiffener in between pieces of leather. The items i would make would be slappers and similar items. i would need rectangular pieces (like 1" wide by 12" long) and some custom shapes. Most likely the source would be a fabricator with a computer aided machine, and, pricing would probably be "set up and run". The quantities i would order would be in the 10-25 range, depending upon pricing. i live in the SE US.

If your wanting to buy one try this site http://www.kyhorse.com/store/tack/whips/dogginbat.htm

It has a perfect one and yes they work very very well. For more effect either mist the skin first with water or rub with a ice cube then use it. To make softer use saddle soap or use a good leather oil. I can assure you is almost better at gaining attention than a whip Have fun

Also something better that spring steel is a piece of vinyl or a flexable plactic sheet that way you can cut with a sharp knife or shears

i think you have misunderstood. i am a toymaker and i am looking for a source for a raw material (spring steel).

i am currently using flexible plastic and i am of the opinion that spring steel would be better for several reasons. But, for this thread, i am looking for a source for spring steel who can provide strips and shapes that i want.

Well if that be the case and you cant find any local souce then you can always buy metal rulers they come in one foot and three foot usually and are usually in the section with the precission tools like the micrometers and calipers. May be a little more expensive but are usually stainless spring steel

i guess i am still not being clear enough.

i make BDSM stuff. i sell that stuff on my web site and at fetish flea markets. There are several things that i want to make and sell that would have spring steel in them. These things would be various shapes, meaning that the spring steel would have to be various shapes. i would buy quantities of 10 to 25 at a time of these various shapes. i am looking for a source (a fabricator?) for this spring steel that can make these shapes for me. i am in the SE US, so, it would be nice if i can find a source in the US, especially the SE US.

Really don't know what to suggest except maybe a local machine shop? They usually work with other types of steel and other metals but it hasn't had occasion to be looking for spring steel fabrications and so hasn't looked for spring steel fabricators.

You might do well to contact Jillian at Locked in Steel. They laser cut stainless for bondage gear. Worth a shot I think.
