From: http://www.pburch.net/dyeing/FAQ/nylon.shtml "Nylon is a polymer, which is to say a long molecule composed of many identical units, chemically known as polyamide (one brand name is Astron). The form described as Nylon 6,6 is stretch nylon (brand names include Ban-Lon and BriNylon). Nylon 6 is a polycaprolactam (brand names include Akulon, Amilen, Carpolan, Enkalon, Grillon, and Perlon). Nylon 11 is yet another form of nylon (one brand name is Rislan)." From that definition, it could be that the nylon rope you received is a blend of different types, and they may not accept the dye uniformly. To further confuse things, the dye you have may not be pure, that is, it may be a blend.
