Quite a few people found this magazine cover photo of a nursing baby distasteful. I personally don't have a problem with breast feeding as I consider it perfectly natural as I do the human body.

Just curious what others may think.

I totally agree, breast-feeding is normal and natural.  People who are getting all worked up over it have hang-ups in other areas, too.  (See that thread about American Psychosis...I think this goes along with it.)  It's possible to breast-feed discreetly in public.

I think breast-feeding is a beautiful thing, good for the baby, etc.  But, if a mom and baby can't work it out, or the mom simply chooses not to, then feeding with bottles is perfectly fine.

We are the only country in the world that has sexualized the breast to this degree. It's ridiculous. I nursed my kids until they weaned themselves....around the age of 2 or so. I had some people insinuate that I was a pedophile for doing so. It's nuts. Yes, everyone says breast is best...but support is hard to find when you're actually doing it.

Unless I have read it wrong, people were pissed at  a boob on a front page of a magazine and not breast feeding in general.

Another reader said she was "horrified" when she received the magazine and hoped that her husband hadn't laid eyes on it.
"I had to rip off the cover since I didn't want it laying around the house," she said.

Not a BOOB ..... A BALLOON! The bub is blowing up his party balloon....

Seriously this would have to go under the "It Could Only Happen In America" file I guess.. We even have legislation allowing mothers to breast feed in public (albeit done tastefully) with at one stage one Federal Politician getting Parlement's ok to breast feed during a sitting of the Federal Parliament.

Well, I gotta tell you IB, some shit like that and they tore up their union card in the human race as far as I give a fuck.

Too many people are sniffing so goddamn much perfume that they are unaware that shit stinks, and people sweat, and we are alive.

Rant over,

My bold emphasis.  I absolutely agree, and I did the same thing as Erin.
I think it is a beautiful photo, and see nothing offensive about it at all.

I saw the photo. I've seen worse on the cover of Cosmopolitan.
How some people have gotten so far removed from life, that they see the Female breast as nothing more than a funbag for a male's sexual gratification is beyond Me.  Time to wake up people..feeding a baby is what the breast is DESIGNED FOR. <rolls eyes at such intolerance and ignorance>

Unbelievable.

My initial reaction was anger. A look inward, a tiny bit of meditation later, I feel nothing but pity for those people who would surely be more comfortable showering with their clothes on. (And I'll bet if they could legislate bathroom necessities, they'd write laws forbidding anyone to shit.)

Some of the reactions to the picture, would be SO, so funny.........if it wasn't so sad..............I had this image of women rushing around scanning motorcycle magazines, car adverts, calendars and similar, that bore images of half dressed females...... and snipping them out before their poor husband's senstivities were rattled.......maybe cutting them out with one hand with the other covering their own eyes..........

Well, we can take satisfaction in knowing that those husbands who the wives claim were "disturbed" by that photo, and who the magazine must be kept from are the husbands who are hiring hookers and getting lap dances at the strip clubs this weekend.

this is ridicoulous.....like someone said "it could only happen in America" lol....
people need to get a life, and a breast or "boob" has nothing sexual about it, except the context, lol....its a perfectly normal thing. Some people in the states still have that puritan streak running strong condemning sex as if it was something evil. And then there is this, which has nothing sexual about it, and all complaints. Society needs to open up.

Umm, exactly HOW did she get pregnant?  One of those "under the covers-in the dark-on the 3rd Tuesday of the month" types?
