The other day,   it seemed my house got innundated with a few too many fly"s...  \
Well i must be slowing down with my reflex's it seemed cuz those flies i went after with the trusty ole fly swatter would skiddadle before ole pounddog could splat em..  so being to buzzy errr busy, person i am.. i went down to the local hardware store and looked in the Pest / poison / heavy metal section and found what i was looking for .....FLY STRIPS..
IF EVER there was a cruel , sadistic , inhumane  way of disposing of one of God's creatures ,,, this has to be it ...
take lil cardboard cylinder out of package, pull string out comes sticky tape, with its own tack for mounting fly strip,
the fly strip is made of all organic material , for you politically corrects out thar....  and i guess when the fly strip is filled so no more room is left for another fly to land and get stuck well You can make a soup starter with the all natural , organic fly strip.....  hmmm lets see them do that on ' Survivor "  Well  being the great white hunter i am ,  i set about , setting my organic fly strips in strategic spots i had previously reconned in days previous,,,,,  my hunter instincts were at a all time high,,,,   i knew my prey ,  i covertly went about setting the traps,    i set out 3 traps,  kept the 4th one at the ready incase i might need the extra muscle if something went wrong...  i left to go on another high priority mission,  errr well i went to work,
i came back that evening ,  and checked my traps,  the planning and early recon of my adversaries had paid off.    every trap had its prey ...
Well it was then i got that Adrenalin rush that all big game hunters get .....
it was also then i saw my prey close up some dead , but most stuck , in different states of immobility ,  some with wings stuck , others with heads stuck , some really stuck completely only able to buzzzzzzzzz
it was then i saw the folly of my ways....
What a way to die ,,  immobile  not able to eat or move   to die a slow excruciating death of body immobilization and starvation...
it was then i gave up the hunt.....
i went back , and dusted off the old fashioned fly swatter....
i have come full circle
any one for fly soup ?

i am glad you came to such a deep viseral enlightend realisation....i wish i could have had such a lofty transformation, but i stopped using those darn strip things after one got stuck in my hair...ewe gross ...i  know.

Your post was quite amusing hehe
I too use those dreaded fly stips...Ever August We always have a problem with clouds of fruit flies, no matter what I do. Thankfully, they die very quickly and thus, I am spared from imagining their tiny little cries for help.

You want REALLY cruel and inhumane hunting..use one of those gluetraps they have for MICE. OMG...I shudder at just the thought of how they must suffer. Nasty germ and disease carrying rodent, yes..but horrible to think of them suffering so long. Snap traps 98% of the time are quick and efficient.

Ahhhh, the joys of committing insecticide.....

There are also some neat fly traps where you fill a bag with water and hang it outside.  The attractant lures them through an entry 'valve' and they either starve or drown.

I like the electric swatter for the really annoying ones that never quite land but for a windowsill full, nothing beats rolling up the grocery store ads and whacking the little bastards into their next life.

years ago, i use to live in an apartment that was right above a dumpster....and it was in the dog days of summer,  so the heat was high...causing food to rot....hense...flies, tons of them...now at that time my cat was constantly killing flies....and i would sit, smoke my cigarettes and watch....he was having way too much fun, so i had to join in....went out and looked at all the traps....and thought, "nahh....they are pissing me off too much, i want revenge" so i bought two fly swatters....came home...and had double the action...my cat and i ran around killing all these damn flies, more like a 100 of them or so.....then i realized why they were getting into my apartment....had a window cracked a bit to get some air in.....big duh, closed the window, no more flies...but for those hours, i felt like king of my apartment.

I live on a farm, cattle and horses. Anyway to kill the largest quantity of flies possible without killing animals or people is alllllll good!

Oui, I am confused. However in my happy little confused world insects are not animals, especially nasty biting flies that prolly were sitting on cow poo or something dead before they landed on my leg. ick ew yeck.........they need to die!
