ORIGINAL: Level Oh, being a toughie eh? [:D] LOL Somehow I knew it would be you that took up the battle... quote:
So, a guy that beats the hell out of his wife isn't a bad person? Or someone that thinks black people are sub-human? They are both sick and uneducated people. Most likely they were taught this behaviour as a child, or saw people treated this way, and believe it to be the right way to act. ("This is how I was raised and it was good enough for my family, so it's good enough for me...") These actions are very, very bad. So is the fact that we have not yet come up with ways to prevent this cycle of abuse/intolerance from occuring. quote:
Mother Theresa wasn't a good person? To you her actions appeared good. Perhaps to people of other religious beliefs her actions appeared bad. Mother Theresa simply acted in the way she was taught, and motivated, to act. It's the same reason I work with special needs kids. I was taught by my parents, and conditioned by social praise that is was a good thing to do. quote:
I'm not saying they are incapable of good deeds or even good traits, but wouldn't certain acts push someone into the realm of being bad? Or good? No, certian factors motivate us to act in the way we feel we need to act in order to survive, or in order to gain an outcome we feel very strongly we need or want to gain. A person is more than just the sum of their actions. They are the product of their education, mental health, religious beliefs, etc, etc...To label someone good or bad, is to believe in the black hat/white hat stereotypes. I stand by it: No bad or good people. Just bad or good action.
