Actually that is not true. They are all quite well tested, and on pretty much any rig they will not crash your system. I have been working on computers for 18 years, and in those 18 years I have seen ONCE where an update screwed up a program, and it was not even Windows. It messed up Outlook Express on a Windows 2000 machine for reasons I have yet to figure out. Uninstall the update and everything was fine. ALWAYS download the security updates. They are there for your protection. The BSOD (blue screen of death) is still there in SP2. You just do not see it because the kernel is far more stable than in the old Windows. However, if you happen to have a hardware malfunction or a wicked ass driver malfunction it will pop up once again, forcing you to restart.
