LaraVictore -> ANON'S HEAT ALLERGY (8/9/2006 9:48:02 AM)

Does anyone has information or serious links about heat, sun allergy and how to tolerate 20 hours of air conditioning  a day,  if you have never stood 2 hours of it before? If you are a Doctor, just know that I already have a Black skin color (It tans ridiculously[sm=goodnight.gif] too!) and I never take medicines, unless there is no natural remedy available. I even overheard this is way worst for women having hot flashes; I am not there yet but...

Thank you, in advance, for this  ONE cool answer, which will keep Me of delaying everything to December, and most importantly will equip me against hellish temperatures forever.

My first advice is to have yourself checked for Lupus. If it is simple hyperphotosensitivity, avoid heat and UV light in general. An antihistamine such as benadryl will alleviate some of the symptoms, as will sun block. Polarized sunglasses are best if you develop migraine-like headaches from exposure, but pain medication is not as affective against the headaches as is 20 or 30 minutes in a dark, cool room. Minor rash from exposure can be treated with over the counter hydrocortisone cream. Limit your niacin intake as it seems to be a factor, and try increasing your vitamin D and E intake.
