Does anyone remember the bee-girl from Blind Melon's "No Rain" video? I'll bet that she's strung out on skid-row right now, another casualty of a childhood "fifteen minutes". Maybe the accumulated wreckage on her psyche from years of adolescent "bee-girl" taunts led the poor thing to a life of unfettered promiscuity, just like Sophia in "The Razor's Edge". Bee-Girl.................wherever you are, I just want you to know that I'm reaching out to you in spirit. Just let the hell go of that life of lighters, spoons, and five-dollar blowjobs given behind the smoking deck at Earnie's Cafe. Somebody still cares about you!!!

I last saw her a couple of years ago when I was working with her at the bank. She was doing quite well. I'm not joking. By the way, she's actually a good several years older than people give her credit for. I believe she's about three years older than me. Shannon Hoon (Melon's front-man) is from here. I know his family pretty well. He's buried about ten miles from here. His vigil should be coming up pretty soon, September. The world got a little dimmer when he died.

Strangely enough this post doesn't surprise me , except the vigil part .. off to google and map quest for more info ... and to think I call myself a fan . EDIT BAH ... No way in hell W/we could make it this year . To much planned in September .

Yep, it's every year on the Saturday that falls closest to Shannon's birthday (September 26). We go every year. I think this year's vigil is on the 23rd. It starts at sundown, and there is live music (year before last it was the girl who sings "Mouthful of Cavities" with Shannon) and people just hanging out and doing their own thing. It's really neat. It's held out the Dayton Cemetery (about two miles outside of Lafayette). If you go, I'd bring a candle or several to light. Everyone paints them and brings them to light once it gets dark. It's really neat. It's a great way to remember an awesome artist.
