ORIGINAL: jojoluvr hmmm, i wonder if this is what the OP had in mind? here's a question: are message boards an example of true democracy? diverse voices from all classes (well, anyone who can get to and operate a computer, so maybe not ALL classes), multi-ethnic/multi-racial, spanning the political spectrum, young, old and in between, male and female and combinations thereof, and (here, at least), dominant and submissive. if so, then does true democracy only work with moderators? i'm pretty sure the boards need them.... and yes, i'm truly interested in "hearing" your multi-faceted thoughts on this. i think it may become part of my dissertation....i'm more and more fascinated... (not sure this belongs in ask a sub, but the OP did ask for something interesting... this is what interests me....) jo I believe that democracy is a form of represetative government. If all of the rules, costs, and regulations were decided by the discussion boards then we might be able to call it a democracy. Until them, it's just a discussion. LAsub
