How about when the last Concorde left from America to London and an American woman was interviewed on TV. Apparently she had realised that bloody was a swearword in England and tried to use it in every other sentence in the MOST posh English she could muster – this was hilarious.

The recent posts have been boring me... So I'm trying to think of an intelligent question/subject.

Am I an intellectual and emotional snob? ... I guess I am.

I'm not in turmoil at this time, so please, someone, say something smart.

I think that your question is more difficult to respond to than you realize. What you are asking is for someone to be presumptuous enough to consider that what they are saying in "so very smart." Most people don't like to be put on the spot that way. "Hey listen to me, I'm saying something smart!" I think there are certainly lots of people who say smart things on these posts. Sometimes it's in very witty humor, sometimes it's in excellent advice, or sometimes it's in letting someone have it who's has it coming for a long time. All of thise things can be smart in their own way. But they happen naturally in the course of people talking to each other. Most of the smart people I know aren't trying to be smart, they just are.

Service is illusory.

hmmm, i wonder if this is what the OP had in mind?

here's a question:  are message boards an example of true democracy?  diverse voices from all classes (well, anyone who can get to and operate a computer, so maybe not ALL classes), multi-ethnic/multi-racial, spanning the political spectrum, young, old and in between, male and female and combinations thereof, and (here, at least), dominant and submissive.  if so, then does true democracy only work with moderators?  i'm pretty sure the boards need them....

and yes, i'm truly interested in "hearing" your multi-faceted thoughts on this.  i think it may become part of my dissertation....i'm more and more fascinated...

(not sure this belongs in ask a sub, but the OP did ask for something interesting... this is what interests me....)

what interests Me, jojoluvr, for the moment, is why someone with 309 posts doesn't have a profile.

I believe that democracy is a form of represetative government. If all of the rules, costs, and regulations were decided by the discussion boards then we might be able to call it a democracy. Until them, it's just a discussion.

Ok, this might sound like a stupid question, but it is really not. It is what separates the ordinairy from the wiser ones.

What came first, the chicken or the egg?
