Anyone gonna watch the shooting stars tonight?

zumala -> RE: Shooting Stars (8/11/2006 8:13:22 PM)

I didn't know we were having any.  Is there a time and place for this?

its starts midnight eastern time, and Mars will be close to the moon...should be a beautiful sight if the skies are clear.

proudsub -> RE: Shooting Stars (8/11/2006 9:00:15 PM)

Yes, heading out to the hot tub at 11:00.[:)]

IronBear -> RE: Shooting Stars (8/11/2006 10:45:39 PM)

I trust we are looking at the astrologically and not shooting singing or movie stars! Whilst they may a few of those need shooting I still remember the loss of John Lennon..

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. As usual, I'm a day late (but trust me, the old saying is absolutely true - better late than pregnant).

It should be good tonight too but you have to get out before the moon comes up which means before 11:00 here in WA, that's why we didn't see much last night, it was too light out.

Did we miss them then?  We will be in the hot tub tonight at 9.

We saw 4 good ones in about a half hour then got busy with other things in the hot tub.[;)]

Hey cuddleheart ,  thanks for the Heads up about the Meteroite showers, i have been watching the sky , nearly every night, i exercise in the evening , a place i go in the woods  with the poundog,  and have seen the Growing number of shooting stars,  the night before even though we had a nearly full moon, i was looking up in a stretching exercise , and above me not more than 500 feet came streaking glow ball about the size of a golf ball, it was so close it left a vapor trail,  From what ive read about these pieces of Meteorites it was probally about the size of a BB  and it is super heated to look bigger, than a few seconds later another one came by about 1500 ft above my head,  it was quite a nice experience,  gave me that immediate sense of Awe of my surroundings and my life, as Nature does to me from time to time...  Yeah i always feel better after a walk in the night and ive look and see the constellations i know ,  and always makes me think the same questions i have thought about since i was just a kid laying in the grass on a Summers night and thinking well what's beyond the furthest star i see,   and well,  whats beyond that ............... i haven't come up with the answer yet ..... im still a kid looking up at the night sky wondering whats beyond what i see....

caitlyn -> RE: Shooting Stars (8/13/2006 10:02:46 AM)

Which stars did we shoot? [;)]

WyrdRich -> RE: Shooting Stars (8/13/2006 4:32:39 PM)

Went up to the mountains for the show.  There we were, 7000 feet elevation, out on the deck, right on the edge of the national forest and the moon was just too bright.  I saw perhaps a dozen over two nights.  Oh well, we just had to find something else to do...

MmakeMme -> RE: Shooting Stars (8/13/2006 5:21:52 PM)
