I am new to collarme. I think this a good site, better than most because it is truly free. I have enjoyed my short time here.
If I have one pet peeve, it is when folks do not reply to emails.
We are all here by choice. Some are Dom/Domme, some are sub/slave. We make our own labels. I think we have to live by what me say.
If someone takes the time out of their day to email you, I think it is just courtesy to return that email, even if all you have to say is, "Sorry, not interested." Just don't leave folks hanging. If it's gonna take awhile to to compose a proper response, send them a quick,"Thanks for your email- I will answer more fully soon. Please be patient." I have noticed that some have put in their journal entries that they have been inundated with email and they ask that everyone be patient while they try to answer. That's a great idea too. But, how about something you keep in cut and paste that reiterates that on a more personal level? I understand that some folks get LOTS of emails and it takes time to go through them. How long does it take to make a quick note?
I don't mind getting 'Thanks, but no thanks' replies. At least I am not left hanging. I will just make a note that they aren't interested and move on. New folks join all the time. But having your hard work (and for me trying to come up with something that sounds good everytime IS hard work) ignored, or read and ignored, is just plain demoralizing.
Please, courteous replies, even if they are short and sweet and to the 'not what I wanted to hear, but ok' point?
What does anyone else think?

You throw a bottle into the sea .... sometimes it returns ... sometimes it doesn't.

But I disagree with you .... although it would be a nice gesture ... I don't believe people are committed to replying to all e-mails. Do you open all of the mail you receive in your (Post Office) mail box? I would bet not.

I've sent simple, one line e-mails to people (compliments, kudos, etc) and haven't heard back. No worries .... no sweat ... no loss.

Status: offline 		You know ... we men are our own worst enemies .... I'm willing to take a guess that the e-mails drw are referring to were all sent to women.

Spend 10 minutes in any chat room and you see the women inundated with IMs from the men .... even in lesbian chat rooms. And I'm sure it's the same with CM e-mails. I can't blame the women for not answering them. Of course ... some of the unbelievably retarded screen names these guys come up with are appalling. Seriously, how many of you ladies will take a guy seriously who has a screen name like "Big94U" or "Loves2LickU"?

Status: offline 		i try and write back to everyone who takes more than a few seconds to write me, but i get a lot of mail and it is hard to answer everyone (i received 48 emails the first day my profile was up).

Those charmers who write things like "nice tits" as an entire email, i do not write back. i do not wish to sound rude but if that is all they have to say to me, i have to wonder what further correspondence would have to offer.

Oh, and the handful of guys that wrote me and insulted my Dom based on his profile, uh, yeah, i didn't write back to them, either.

Status: offline 		One thing to remember is sometimes, when you write that one person who just seems "right" for you, and they don't write back... give 'em a week or so, then write again. Sometimes women just "forget" to respond due to the spam they get, or get distracted, or whatever, and a friendly reminder will make 'em respond.

Sometime soon, on of your bretheren will start a thread on the ineqities of financial domination. . .and they too will believe that they have stumbled across a brand new original post idea.

I wouldn't argue with her. It's one of the reasons my contributions have diminished - rehashing what has been said so often already, although I can understand your point (forums eventually ceasing to exist).

It would be novel, however, if someone researched their topic here and then added something new to the conversation.

I don't know that Jules' idea about searching is necessarily the best way to avoid repeating a topic that has been beaten to death numerous times. But it is usually recommended that folks lurk a while and get a feeling for an on-line community, kinda like sticking a toe in the water, before jumping in. Certainly if folks do that and take the time to read some of the old posts here they'll be able to make a better first impression by chiming in on a topic when they actually have something to add to a discussion.

However, when folks don't lurk and just introduce themselves with a post like this, they seem to be expecting it to cause a group hug and for everyone to get the warm and fuzzies. When that doesn't happen they go away. So in this case Jules just happened to be the first to pour a cold bucket of reality on the poster; if not her, then somebody else would have by telling him to quit whining and grow up.

Hey now! I consider my time spent in band and studying music to be the highlight of my public education! I certainly walked away from band with more usable skills than from any of the other classes I took.

But then I didn't go to high school - so what do I know?

Status: offline 		At my age and location, i don't get a lot of e-mails, and have come to accept that as just fact. While i do try to write back to those who do take the time, there are those i ignore -- those with porno pics attached, those who's email says.."hello", noting else, including no profile, and i even received an empty one once..lol. The other letters i don't answer are the response letters to my "no thank you" letters, demanding and/or whining to know why not (rolling of eyes). i have to admit i'm sometimes tempted to write back offering them some cheese to go with their whine, but better manners prohit me..lol.

As for the letters i've started, i'm learned that not everyone does write back -- lack of time, aptitude or manners are my usual self-reasonings. Who knows, i just know it's important to do my best, and not worry about the rest..
