Right now I'm listening to "Clannad". "Lore"
The lead singer in that Irish band Maire Brennan is "Enya"'s sister.
That's how Enya got started.
In my humble opinion Maire Brennan has a MUCH better voice than her sister does!
I've been to their father's place in Crolly, Donegal (Leo's) and seen all the Platinum Records framed on the wall and it's quite impressive!
There's a new place there now as the old Pub was knocked down to make way for the new one, what a shame.
When I was in the old "Leo's" there were two GEORGEOUS women in there chatting with some other ladies.
I got to talking with one of them and it turned out that they were from the local area and were home from work on a Holiday.
I asked her what they did for "work" and she told me they were dancers in one of the "Riverdance" productions!
Of course I got pictures and video!
If you haven't ever heard "Clannad" before ("Clannad" means "the children of the family" in "Irish".) look them up online and give them a listen.
One of my favorites of theirs is "Landmarks" the forth cut on that album is probably one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard in my life. ("Of this land.")
Also Maire Brennan has a bunch of solo albums and they're incredably beautiful and spiritual! What a voice on her!
And there's a lady who I know personally who comes from just up the road in "Gweedore" and is the lead singer and fiddler of the band "Altan" Maread Mooney who I also listen to quite a bit.
And her voice is incredable too! Perfect pitch!
So what are you listening to?

Placebo. The actual track I'm listening to now is This picture:

I hold an image of the ashtray girl
As the cigarette burns on my chest
I wrote a poem that described her world
That put my friendship to the test
And late at night
Whilst on all fours
She used to watch me kiss the floor
What's wrong with this picture?
What's wrong with this picture?

My other half seems to think it is about a sub but I keep telling her its the wrong way round but hwhat the hell, if she likes it. Dark and broody is how I like music, very cathartic.

Right now, the CD "The Daemon Lover" by Custer LaRue is playing...the cut is Queen Jane which never ceases to bring tears to my eyes.  Lordy that woman can sing!

You can listen to cuts from the CD here:  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000001Q9M/102-1271246-8093767?v=glance&n=5174

Edited to add:  Popeye...you might like her...she specializes in traditional ballads, including those of Ireland, Scotland and has a voice clear as a bell!

I remember their song "Pure Morning", very cool tune.

I'm listening and watching (or trying to) an entire KISS concert at the Winterland in 1975, I think. "Deuce" is the song.

Cool choice Level.

A friend in need is a friend in deed,
a friend with weed is better.
A friend with breasts and all the rest,
a friend whose dressed in leather.
A friend in need is a friend in deed,
a friend who'll tease is better,
Our thoughts compressed which makes us blessed,
and makes for stormy weather.
A friend in need is a freind in deed,
but Japanese is better.
And when she's pressed she will undress,
and then she's boxing clever.
A friend in need is a friend in deed,
a friend who bleeds is better.
My friend confessed she passed the test,
and we will never sever.

My other half is Japanese and likes to dress in leather. Having seen Placebo, I'm pretty sure the lead singer is into S&M.

The Verve Pipe, "Photograph"

I was listening to "John the Revelator" by Depeche Mode a few minutes ago.

Deicide-"Scars of the Crucifix"

The trite, Christ-bashing lyrics are back for yet another record, but the guitar riffs on this record are some of the finest death-metal ever recorded.  The intro  and verse riffs on the record's first track make me want to eat beef jerky and get into bar fights.  I'd rank this one somewhere with Cannibal Corpse's "Butchered at Birth" (that album has some wicked raw palm-muted riff destruction.)  This is one of the few rock records that's been out in the last eight years that doesn't make me want to puke.

Going to see them with Rob Zombie in a few weeks. Yet another "Dad is taking me..." concert.

I'm listening to Mastadon at the moment. I'm becoming a metal fan.
