No way, I hate fish, damn them all to hell!

I do not need any additional observation to conclude in the postive. It has been a tautology since his birth.

What is the article about? Fish?

That is well worth 10 minutes of anyone's listening time. I appreciate he struggles to string a sentence together but did he really say "They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and people.....and neither do we". Quite perceptive for a change.

Hats off to the schoolkids laughing at the clown. Seriously, if that was Boris Yeltsin we'd all be assuming he'd necked a skip full of vodka.

Listen to the Prez- The tragic cycle of violence between people and fish must be stopped! [;)]

captiveplatypus -> RE: Scarborough: Is Bush an idiot? (8/16/2006 12:32:13 PM)

No, it's various compiled clips of Bush blatantly being idiotic, one of which was him saying “I know that human beings and fish can coexist peacefully.”  I am dying to know what he was supposed to even be discussing.  I am certain the people who voted for him either:

a) never watched the news enough to witness any of these.
b) are too stupid to realize how stupid he sounds just trying to read a script (NUCLEAR  NUCLEAR FOR THE LOVE OF GOD IT'S NOT THAT HARD!)
c) are smart enough to realize Cheney's running the show, anyway, and all for his greedy plots.

We may also conclude that he is indeed not at fault for going into Iraq, this is the policy wanks and the handlers that put that on him, it is clear that he is  ...alive.

So, I understand that Reagan was elected and served with alzheimer's......I mean, jesus, this is america afterall.  But if you are profoundly debilitated by reason of mental deminshment and are in the throes of alzhiemer's...can we get a separate name for that?

errrumm.... I don't think he started developing it until after his presidency.  Did he?

And really, even if we did do that, is that really all that surprising?

Edit: yeah he wasn't even diagnosed with it until 1994.  Sheesh, we're not THAT bad. :p

mnottertail -> RE: Scarborough: Is Bush an idiot? (8/16/2006 12:39:43 PM)

Ummmmmmmmm..........I believe that it has been demonstrated that he had it for most of his time in office, albiet in less profound states.

Nothing is surprising.................

LOL,

I see... it all makes sense now... maybe... The babelfish proves the nonexistance of god, therefore there is some debate as to wether or not all fish should be smited on account that they may be babelfish to protect the church...

Former president Ronald Reagan, 93, died at his home in California on Saturday. After leaving office, he announced his condition of Alzheimer's disease in a letter expressing his gratitude of service to the American people. About five million Americans are afflicted with the disease and there is no known cure.

David Shenk, author of "The Forgetting: Alzheimer's - Portrait of an Epidemic," was online Monday, June 7 at 2 p.m. ET to talk about the disease that President Reagan battled for the last 10 years of his life.
Shenk was previously online to discuss the PBS documentary, 'The Forgetting': A Portrait of Alzheimer's,' based on his book. Prior to 'The Forgetting,' Shenk wrote 'Data Smog' and has also written for Harper's, Wired, Salon, The New Republic, The Washington Post and The New Yorker and is an occasional commentator for NPR's All Things Considered.

David Shenk: Hello. Thanks to washingtonpost.com for having me back on this sad occasion. As the author of the The Forgetting, I've obviously been following Reagan's illness very closely. Sad to say, he seem to have a classic experience with the disease, experiencing annoying but minor memory issues in the late 80s and early 90s, and then having more and more trouble with memoory and disorientation as the years went on. He was diagnosed in 1994, and did the whole world an enormous service by going public with his diagnosis. There are two monumental challenges in the Alzheimer's world right now: to cure it of course, and also to help the public understand it so we can break through the taboo and improve care. Nancy and Ronald Reagan faced squarely up to both challenges, and we owe them both a lot for that.

Arlington, Va.: How is Alzheimer's Disease different from the "ordinary" (but sometimes severe) dementia that often occurs in old age?
David Shenk: Great question. In today's terminology, we no longer consider any dementia as ordinary. Dementia is the general category, and we know that dementia is always caused by a particular disease. Alzheimer's happens to be by far the leading cause of dementia.

But there is no such thing as "garden-variety dementia." It's always caused by something, and it's important to diagnose what's causing it.
_______________________
Wallace, N.C.: Do you think that Ronald Reagan had Alzheimer's during his term as president?
David Shenk: Everyone wants to know that about Reagan, understandably. The short answer is no -- he did not have diagnosable Alzheimer's in the White House.

Alzheimer's is a progressive disease that creeps up very very slowly, and it was certainly creeping up on him during the late years of his Presidency. He knew that better than anyone, and joked frequently in speeches and with his White House doctors. But it's clear from looking at the evidence that his memory troubles in the White House were much too slight to be considered Alzheimer's.

!! [sm=whoa.gif] You have instantly forced me to pull a "John Kerry" on my stance regarding fish, although if that is so, I am shocked to hear Bush speak in support of them.  Maybe he's not so bad after all.

It could be said that was his subconscious speaking the truth or that he is just an idiot. BTW from what I've read he does have an alcohol problem, so yeah maybe Georgie did nip into the gin before his speech. Just to calm his nerves you know[;)]

captiveplatypus -> RE: Scarborough: Is Bush an idiot? (8/16/2006 12:52:29 PM)

Yes, Ron, but (here I go making lists again)

a) no one knew he had alzheimers when he was running for president.
b) he didn't even start showing signs of it until toward the end of his presidency.

I lived with a grandfather that had it, I believe he showed signs of it from the getgo.

But of no matter, it has aught to do with fish, or bush.....I say he has it, and he wasn't bright enough to never not have it in the first place.

LOL,
I, of no matter.

Daddy4UdderSlut -> RE: Scarborough: Is Bush an idiot? (8/16/2006 1:39:56 PM)

One of my favorite Bush moments, is when he was at a UN meeting, and wrote the note, captured accidently by a journalist, asking Condoleeza Rice if it was alright if he went to the bathroom:
http://politicalhumor.about.com/od/georgewbush/ig/100-Bush-Pictures/Bush-Potty-Break.htm

There he is, the best man our nation could produce. [&:]  The thing is, I think it was Northern Gent who said it - we get the government we deserve.  Not only did America vote for Dumbya once, but they voted for him twice! [:'(]
