... My universal translator seems to be broken, and someone didn't feed my babelfish while I was out of town. Y'know.. I understand that Jon Benet's murder was a tragedy but there's a lot of children that get murdered and they don't get any airtime at all. Yesterday the entire local news programs were completely dedicated to that paticular bit of non-news. I'm happy for the (remaining) family that they get closure now, but frankly I've moved on (I moved on a hell of a long time ago). It's a terribly emotionmal topic, and the wonderful way that the police uesd the media to fuck up the Benet family is certranly worthy of a proper investigation and possibly criminal libel charges against the officers involved.... but the fact that they caught the bastard is a footnote in -my- life. There's far more important things going on to discuss in (what is for me) local news, like how a few of the local councilmembers have been scamming the local treasury forcing my county to choose between upgrades to the 911 service or taking care of the roads. It's become nothing more than a soap opera, and that does a real disservice to the real issues involved. $0.02 Dauric.

*Huh? I hate it when the Babel fish falls out of my ear!* On a related subject ( I think! ), has anyone other than me considered the possibility that the guy confessed not out of guilt, but in a desperate effort to get extradited back to the U.S.? I am probably wrong, but it did cross my mind.

I dunno, I just read the autopsy report online, and apparently there was no indication of previous or ongoing abuse, which one would expect if it were the parents, and supports a single incident/attack scenario. I'm not sure why this was never reported, I previously had the impression that she had suffered ongoing abuse prior to being murdered, and have to admit the parents would have been at the top of my list of suspects based on that misconception. Shit, a gradeschool teacher, in Thailand? That's exactly where I'd probobly be if I were a fucking pedo.

The United States' prisons are alot better than International prisons (at least that is what I have heard).
