Status: offline 		Being a Dominant, I want to see how the sub/slaves view this series of questions.   I have found myself, at times, well within the "zone" while I am in a particular scenario.  I would say I'm very focused on what I am doing, deriving pleasure from My ministrations on the submissive I am with.  Would it be wrong of me to consider this Domspace?   If you could define it on your own, how would you define Domspace?

Pretty much anything that's been said about subspace, applies to domspace or top space.

So, there's no real universal experience, there's many different types, people go into it for various reasons and through various ways and have various levels of conscious control when it occurs.

I've been with tops who became hyper focused and sensitive and been with doms who might as well have been on acid.

Status: offline 		Hummmmm... I've been with Doms who were in the 'zone'...obviously in DomSpace...hyper alert; totally in control. 
 
I've been with Doms who seemed oblivious to 'the zone'...and might as well have been on muscle relaxants or something!
 
But...never with one who might as well have been on Acid.  What on earth were his 'symptoms'???   I'm curious as hell, now!  LOL

Oh the things people do when they are sober......... :P

As a sadomasochist, honestly, I would have to say what is most interesting is experiencing it from both ends, relatively at the same time. (ex: you beat on someone then have someone beat on you) Now that is one heavy cocktail! Don't know what they'd call it though :P

It's funny though, because I've noticed that, for me, there are two opposite reactions from either side, that when they combine, you would expect them to cancel each other out. Not the case.

Many times, a person in domspace may lose sense of their surroundings (activities, people etc) - although focus on the submissive/slave can increase.  Heightend power is another sign... scenes can be longer than normal.  And the dominant can feel more in tune with their partner.  Basically IMO... Domspace is focused attention that the dominant experiences that means that everything else is blocked out apart from what is happening... where his power and control lies and that is with their partner.
 
I am just editing to add... that the heightend sense of power and control doesnt always make for a safer play.  Sometimes, it can be like a drunk behind a steering wheel.

Of course not. You can consider it anything you want. As far as my experience goes, I have been "in the zone", but never considered it "domspace", mostly because it is a word I have heard/read, but it just isn't part of my lexicon.

When I am there I am totally focussed on the person I am playing with, to the exclusion of everything else. I have no conception of the passing of time, nor am I really aware of the ambient temperature, etc. except as it may relate directly to whatever I am doing.

I find I can read my sub, it becomes almost an intuitive thing. I just know what she is ready for and when she is ready for it. I seem to be able to sense exactly how far to push.

I realise that as a Dom it is supposed to be about my wants, but when I am "in the zone", then it becomes entirely about the sub (not specifically about her expressed wants). I am hyper aware of her breathing and how hot or cold she is, I seem to know just hyow hard to smack, and also seem to be able to take her a little deeper and smack even harder, and have her wanting me to do so.

I can't explain it very well because I do not try to analyse or understand it, I just live it, and that is my advice to you. Don't bother naming it, just live it, and enjoy it,

Status: offline 		what i see as domspace from my perspective as a sub...

when a dom is in the zone they are able to read their sub like a book - and guide the scene from a place of warmup to a place of taking the sub just to the edge or a little past - totally aware and in control of manifesting the responses they feed off of...yet caring for the wellbeing of their sub.

and when it ends they are responsible for handling the outcome - reading the sub accurately thru aftercare until they are "back".

it is a mental space of alertness, awareness, mastery of tools and techniques, control, artful work and deep satisfaction, and sensuality...intimacy, connection and creating feeling/space. and the ability to roll with the unpredictable in their sub - being able to switch gears as needed to keep things moving and escalating to a climax of their design...

much like an artist experiences when creating art - time ceases to exist...

Status: offline 		I think the use of Dom or sub space has much to do with the power/energy exchange happening between the two (or more) involved.

After being scened once the comment was made to the Dom i was with the energy we had was almost palpable to others in the room.  We were connected to each other only, not aware of others or the space we were in.
