Idealogue: an often blindly partisan advocate or adherent of a particular ideology.

~~~~~~
How many of the 45th Infantry division that liberated the Dachau concentration camp, were Democrats? Which ones were Republicans? Conservative? Liberal?
How many Republicans wept when they found out Dr. King had been shot? How many Democrats?
How many doctors are Democrats? Republicans? Are the ________________ ones more gullible? Do the _________ ones try harder? Which ones care more?
How many of the police officers and firefighters that were present at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001 were Republicans? Democrats? Which group did better that day?
Scenario: a woman has just told a man that they are going to have a child. The man holds the woman tight, and gently whispers in her ear that he will always love her, and will care for her and the child all of his life, which he does.
In the scenario above, can you pick out the liberal? The conservative?
Along these lines I did some research of my own a few years back using public US Census data, so if you want to know where I got these numbers, blame the government!
And yes, the image quality is poor, so I apologize, but my old computer died and these are the only copies of these files I still have, and it took me a WHOLE DAY (ok not a whole day, but a while!) to make these and I'm not doing it again.
Which states have the most big businesses?  Hmm...
Strange, though.... which states have the people making the most money as individuals?
That seems a bit contrary, until you look at which states have the highest rate of high school graduates.
Well that seems like a decent mix (although you will note which color fills the bottom), so what is your point regarding education, platy?
Well I'll tell you!  College Grads make the big bucks!
And one last thing, yes there was a big hullabaloo regarding a chart like these listing the red and blue state by IQ.  That one may have been fake, but I did my own research.
SHOCKING!!
Unfortunately I don't remember where exactly I referrenced those IQ figures, as this was a few years ago, and as I mentioned I no longer have access to my original work.  If you have a problem with that, then click here.
Thank you.
Which one is Black, White, Jewish, or Muslim in the last scenario.. which of them speaks Spanish, which speaks english or French.. "Us and Them" is a far larger concept than political.
And I consider myself an ideologue for my political philosophy.
Yes it is.  The usage of left and right was due to the recent "philosophy of intolerance" threads.
And I consider myself an ideologue for my political philosophy.
Funny, you don't look blind....
It is a shame the parties are so divided, and by such a great distance  It's one country, and we all have to share it, yet there are such differences in how things should be run, and then we usually end up with a government that neither party is satisfied with.
It might be nice if we  could elect a President from each party, who all serve at once.  The group battles things out like a private jury duty... and  the agreed upon outcome is what flies.
Some things just sound so easy in theory.
Abraham Lincoln Brigade...Flying Tigers...Roosevelt was elected four times and then Truman, so anyone want to bet how many Democrats were at the front lines?  Look how pathetically few Republican politicians are combat vets compared to how many are Democrats.  Most police and fireman are union members...
How many politicians quote Nixon, Ford, or either Bush, how many quote FDR, Kennedy, Johnson?  Teddy Roosevelt was a radical left winger compared to most of today's politicans and was kicked out of the Republican party.
Lazy perhaps, but I'll just recycle my post from the liberal intolerance thread here *lol*...
I don't think it's very productive to have an "us versus them" discussion regarding liberals versus conservatives...
At least in the US, it's been adequately pointed out that the country has been growing increasingly polarized for some time now along these lines.  Pitting one half of the country against the other half... isn't very useful.
I know of at least two forces that have been identified that contribute to this trend, both of which are problematic because it's been shown by psychologists that most people at least, seek out reinforcement for what they already believe.
1. The increasing fragmentation and specialization of media - in the good old days, everyone watched the same few channels, which necessarily provided centric views of events to appeal to the broad audience.  Today, specialized, ie, highly biased sources of information, are attracting the bulk of the audience's mindshare.
2. The increasing geographical partitioning of Americans into communities of like minded people
The kicker is, that the same research that has shown that people seek out reinforcement of viewpoint or bias, also has shown that this kind of selective listening inherently results in even more extreme viewpoints, because opposing views are simply excluded from the discussion.
It's not good.
