hmmmmm ... perhaps you don't know what it's like for a kid with ADHD?  I realize you think this is funny, but it isn't.  It's exactly what my idiot of a father said about my son: "You don't hit him enough".  Life is agony for my son...who was in Special Ed till he was 21 and is now 33 and still struggling.  This is right up there with racist jokes; what IS the point?

I didn't know ADHD was a "race".

And really folks, if you are offended- take it up with South Park.

They've been ridiculing Timmy (the little boy in a wheelchair) way to much!
I use a wheel chair!  And Chef's Scientology beliefs!  And Tom Cruise being in the closet with John Trivlolta!  And killing Kenny all the time! What about all those parents that have lost childen to accidental explosions!!????

Hitting kids back then probably did get them to sit still and not move whether they had ADHD, or not.  I would sit still and shut up too if someone 5 times my size, who locked me in a room all day, screamed at me and threatened to hit me if I got out of line  However, if they did it against my will, it would be wrong.... even if my parents/spouse/anyone said it was okay for them to abuse me.  And, since I am an adult, if he did it to me....he'd likely be arrested, but do it to someone who weighs 50 pounds and the law looks the other way- even these days.

The clip doesn't offend me, but the concept behind it is unfortunate.

Actually it's a "power chair".  I use it on days when my energy is low and my legs are not real steady and when I'm out shopping.  (I have MS)   TMI  :) eh?

And you know what?  I still laugh when I see someone accidentally flying down a flight of stairs in a wheelchair.  (But then I'm 'sick' like that)

When I was young (Not so long ago) and I acted up, I got a solid smack.  And I learned.

I seriously believe that our kids these days are becoming far too spoiled.  On the one hand, no one wants their kids to get punished at school.  On the other hand, many parents also don't want to take the time and the effort to do so at home.  So where should a kid learn that even with ADHD, you have to be able to sit there for a while and listen?  Or to not talk back?  And eventually, it gets to the point where the parents get so frustrated with these kids who have never been taught to sit down and shut up that they yell at them.  That aint the solution.  From day one, kids should be taught that acting up gets them nothing, and behaving gets them everything.

Then again, I think putting the entire youth of the nation into essentially one education system until they are 18 is also retarded.

And yes, I have ADHD.  I don't need to be diagnosed with it, I have it and I know it.  And I'm sorry, but that clip was pretty damn funny.

Yours,

benji

OOO yes!!!.... "the look".

My mother would stop my upsets by saying "Bored?  I'll GIVE you something to be Bored about!"  Or if I was crying "She  would "What are you crying about?? I'll GIVE you something to CRY about!".

Now, at this time there was a cartoon out called "Felix the Cat".  Felix had a "magic bag of tricks". Anything he needed he could find in that magic bag. I figured that my mother had such a bag..from which she could  retrive things that would give me "Something to be bored about"  or "Something to cry about".  Needless to say..she never had to admonish me twice.

(And people wonder what made me a Domme! - a MOMMA Domme!)
